What Is Wrong With My Hair? Pls Help

So I’ve been losing hair for the past 1.5 years. I’m 21 right now. It’s pretty noticible now but I don’t understand what it is because I’m losing hair from the sides(like sideburns, above and around the ear), the crown(pretty noticible) and the back( not a lot ). My hairline is pretty much the same as it’s always been, maybe a little thinning but pretty much unnoticeable(same as it’s always been I guess). I’m on minoxidil(almost 6 months) which I guess has slowed the whole thing down and kinda( just a little) made the crown better.

I have had Seborrheic dermatitis for quite some time( its kinda like peel-able greasy dandruff)....and it’s mostly on the sides and the crown( where I’m losing hair)....but it’s not that severe or itchy.

Is this androgenetic alopecia? Chronic Telogen Effluvium? Retrograde alopecia?

I have hair loss in the family but they all started losing hair in their mid 30s and on my mothers side my grandfather still has a full head of hair( he’s almost 75)

I’m losing hair quite a bit now everyday, I shaved my head like 2 years back and it was all red with white dandruff patches, I used a Seborrheic dermatitis shampoo for a couple of days but didn’t pay much attention to the scalp after my hair grew out a little and the after the redness became unnoticible. I still have a little red patch at the back of my neck(also where I’m losing hair)

So essentially what type of hair loss is this and can I recover any lost hair.

I have attached a few pics, my hair is pretty long right now you can see the thinning pretty clearly on the sides if you push the hair up.

To be honest your hair doesn’t look terrible. The sides look alright as most peoples sides are usually thinner (keep an eye on them anyway) but I do see the crown thinning. How much hair are you losing as of now?

Dude shave your fingers those hairs are disgusting. But to answer your question your hair isn't bad at all, definitely not noticeable to others. I would get on finasteride as it works best at the crown. Your hairline looks fine.

It looks better in pics, I lose quite a bit maybe 40-70 idk but almost every time I run my hand through my hair I get 1-2 hairs in my hand.

Going bald is the alternative. finasteride side effects are blown way out of proportion, millions of men take it every day without problems ( myself included )
You could try natural approaches but they are a waste of time and money. Its either finasteride of just accept going bald.

Probably not, but he is right to say body hair is in some way linked to male pattern baldness. As we all know DHT causes scalp hair to atrophy while promoting the growth of pubic and body hair. It depends on follicle sensitivity and how much DHT is in your body. Given OP's situation I think he would be a good finasteride responder as his body hair is outrageous which probably points to scalp follicles of average resistance and high DHT levels in his body. This isn't a rule of course, I'm a little younger than him ( 20 ) and have worse loss (mine is all at the hairline ) and little body hair, finasteride didn't work for me.

Woah man that is a hell of alot of body hair. Your hair does look like it is in the early stages of male pattern baldness though, jump on some treatments. Also wax your knuckles and hand man.
