What made you do it?

Hi guys,
I’m not really an active poster on this forum but view it often, it’s a good forum

Anyways I’ve been losing my hair for a while which sucks as I’m only 25.
I’m diffuse thinning and receding & to me it’s looking pretty bad now, so bad that I know I will have too buzz cut it very short soon (FML)

I haven’t really used any treatments as for me I couldn’t rely on some sort of potion to keep me looking 'attractive ' (no offense directed at anyone, just a personal opinion). I'm not a bad looking guy though in my opinion, I'm just your average guy in terms of looks.

Thing is I know I need to buzz my hair but can’t get the confidence to just do it, I wish I did. It seems I’m happier with my hair looking whack

My question really is for the guys who do buzz their hair short or shave it…what made you finally do it?

That's an interesting comment...

We weren't allowed to shave or buzz our hair for the very simple reason that it made us look like thugs. We had to keep it short and tidy, sort of buzzed sides but slightly longer on the top.

On the other hand, it was acceptable for the bald/balding guys to have the buzzed look. We even had a general who was slick bald, ie he must have shaved it every morning.

I was considering it ever since my balding/shaved buddy put out the theory that, "if you start shaving before your hairloss is too noticeable, you have a better chance of people thinking you're bald by choice for longer". And really, it's a pretty good argument. Although you can usually seek out a hairline, most aren't looking too hard. The downside is you can see it even after a day.

The second encouragement was visiting www.slybaldguys.com and seeing the enlightened individuals with much better attitudes than the doom and gloom you will read on here.

Recently, a good friend (mid 20's) was diagnosed with cancer. A few of us shaved our heads in support. It was a bittersweet segway, but I've been doing it since.

The downside is even after 2 days, it's pretty obvious that I have some bad hairloss going on. For what it's worth, I say DO IT! If your head fits it, you won't regret it.

Yep, there is a not of negativity on this forum but I guess its expected, I bloody hate my hair

Anyways, I've updated my profile with an avatar. thats what my hair looks like at the moment (I'm glad its a bad picture LOL).

I will buzz it all off soon for sure!

I started balding at 18 noticed a receding hairline, instantly grabbed clippers and used probably a #3 and shaved my head. At 19 noticed it was worse so took guard off and buzzed that b**ch. 21 noticed it was looking worse grabbed a razor blade and been using that for about 5 years now.
