so i'm close to my 2 year mark on propecia, it's definitely losing its effectiveness as i am not maintaining. Normal to be losing 10+ hairs when your brush? I also been on rogaine foam for 6 months, it's helped for a short period of time but its gotten to the point where i dont see maintenance or regrowth. Now I know i can't just get off these drugs because i will revert to my original male pattern baldness loss. WHAT THE FCK CAN I DO TO MAINTAIN, how come propecia lost its effectiveness???
SOME1 PLEASE HELP ME THROUGH THIS ROUGH TIME.
I also know this is not a shed because i feel my hairline has changed in a short time compared to it being very square. my crown is reverting back as well:(

Obviously it could technically just be all in your head but without actually seeing it, is hard to give accurate advice on that. However, 10+ hairs when you brush? that's pretty much severely normal for anyone not suffering from male pattern baldness. You lose anywhere between 50-150 hairs a day as a part of your normal hair cycling and most often times when a hair is released it gets caught in the matrix of your other hairs only to be disturbed by brushing or some other sort of friction (shower). These are hairs that have met the end of their healthy normal life cycle, one which will shortly begin all over again from the same spot. Good luck.

Chuck in some Nizoral 2% every couple of days, ensure you're taking enough Propecia (what dose are you on?) and maybe back it up with any of these -

Vits and nutrients to make the hair you do have strong

Any other topical treatments like spironolactone cream (check out Dr Lee's site at www.minoxidil.com)

Treatments to reduce sebum such as Coenzyme A and a good shampoo.

Other than that I am at a loss personally, I mean my regimen contains my best discoveries so far!

The problem is you see that if your hair loss is simply very aggressive, it can be difficult to maintain. It is my belief that diet, lifestyle and stress levels all play a role and improving them will balance your body hormonally which can only help.

Other than that worst case man there are lots of things like hair systems and that "virtual reality" thing and stuff, lots of ways of covering it up effectively, just in case it does ever come to that (obviously last resort, but I'm just saying it's never all lost! :) )

Good luck though man, try Nizoral and that as your first additions to your regimen and keep working on it and working on it until it works for you! :)

My advice: shave your head. Give the look a try now while you can still grow a decent 5'oclock shadow up top. It can be nerve wracking ordeal and feels very very weird for the first week or so but doesn't take too long to get used to the new style and I know at least a part of you will appreciate the super low maintenance (no brushing, no combing ever!) you can achieve with a decent set of clippers or electric razor.

In addition to looking 1000x better than any comb over technique (which really most likely wasn't fooling anyone anyways), it will allow for better absorption of any topicals you apply to your scalp since there's basically no hair to get in the way of you getting those chemicals to your scalp also causing you to waste less product saving you money.

Getting healthy can help with your hair problems but exactly how much help it will lend is all a matter of the type of hair loss you're experiencing and the aggressiveness of it as well. In the end though, if it does absolutely nothing for your hair then all your left with is a super fit body more resistant to disease, injury, failure and death... terrible I know.
