24 years old, Canadian - Ontario.
So, I went to my doctor for a few things and one of the things I brought up was my receding hairline.
It has been receding slowly for over 8 months now, with a noticable difference every week. (I started off with a very low hairline. - like justin biebers. So I thought maybe it was just maturing and I didn't mind how it looked sometimes. But it wont stop.)
- The hairs get thin and light and fall out then the same thing happens to the ones beneath them.
- it started to happen at the sides of my hair and is slowly affecting the top.
- when I catch the few hairs that fall out they almost have no hair root.
- head is ichy right around the parts that fall out/ are falling out.
- Have always had thick hair that never used to fall out like my mom and brother's.
- all stuff that is obviously male pattern baldness due to dht.
The doctor basically said it was due to stress.
- i'm not very stressed out.
I mentioned dihydrotestosterone and she didn't even know what that was.
Said: "testosterone? If it was because of hormones you would have been losing it in patches and all over your body too. The thing about stress is that it grows back."
So basically she can't help me and is convinced it is stress and that it will grow back.
It's obvious to me that it is male pattern baldness and that I need to try finasteride or something similar.
So what now? Should I try online stuff that doesn't require a prescription? Make an appointment with a specialist? how? Canada may have free health care but it's busy, backed up, and unfriendly unless it's an emergency. - at least in my experience.
