Hey everyone

Awesome forum that's been a great help to me. I'm 34 and have had very slow temporal recession since I was approx 20 years old. I'm prob around an Norwood 2 but have just started to thin around the crown area and its really bothering me. I have both finasteride and minoxidil but not had the guts to start them yet and know once I start, I'm committed.

My big question is what should I start with? finasteride or minoxidil?
finasteride appeals as it is convenient but I'm aware of the sides.
minoxidil is appealing because its not a systemic drug.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Thanks in advance......

both if you want max regrowth possible

finasteride only if you are satisfied with maintaining

minoxidil goes system, all topicals do. Just not a large amount. The sides for both are minor and not super common

From reading the forums, seems like finasteride may be best to start with. Then if I need extra help, add in the minos. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Good plan, especially at your stage of hair loss.

Thanks. Any tips for starting finasteride? Expect sides and persevere for a month or two to allow them to dissipate and then water 6-12 for results?

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere on here but this guy got pretty impressive results from minoxidil alone:

Thanks. Any suggestions for starting finasteride - would dosing every other day help re sides?
If I get sides, how long should I persevere for in the hope that they go away?

Also, just seen a minoxidil review on youtube by someone called Tiago - he got incredible results but then when he stopped after 6 months, he seemed to be in a worse position than when he had started. Is there any evidence to suggest that you can fast forward your hair loss by going onto one of these treatments and then stopping?

no you cant fast forward loss

doesn't matter what dosage you start finasteride with really there is almost no difference in results or sides between doses. I'm leaning on no difference at all. Stay on finasteride for a month if you have minor sides they may go away

I've seen his videos, he really did get good regrowth, not sure why he stopped...I don't think it accelerates hairloss though, it probably accelerates shedding after you stop for a period of time, but once your body is completely non dependent on the drug I think it should rebound to where you were or slightly less given the fact that male pattern baldness might have been still been progressing
