The androgen receptor comes from your mom. Both 5 alpha reductase enzyme genes come from both parents as they are autosomally inherited.

Pretty much every other aspect of male pattern baldness is inherited from both sides, as well (ie downstream response to androgens).

I don't think anybody really knows the answer to your question. There are too many variables.

My dad's side

My grandfather from my mom side is 80 years old and still got a full thick head of hair, and all my uncles got black dark thick hair...

My dad in the other side is bald and all my uncles from my dad's side are bald even my aunts from my dad side have thin hair.

so from your mom side thing is a pure myth.. i think you take it from either sides...flip the coin and thats what you get

I have a wierd set of genetics.

My dad started receding fast at 19-20, probably went to a norwood 2-3 within a year or two (like at 22), but strangely enough he stayed like that for years and still to this day (at 48 coming 49) has a norwood 3 hairline and without any further loss?

Anyone have wierd male pattern baldness patterns like this?

same here. my dads side are from some kind of nordic origin cos theyve
all got thin fair hair which receeded as it does and my mums family are
from southern european descent and theyve all got full heads
of thick dark hair. toss of a coin really.

just like eye color and hair color and all that its a split bag. you get a % from one side and a % from another and whomever wins out thats what you get stuck with.

Barely any on mother's side. My uncle is NW2 at 55 and my grandpa was NW2 until his seventies when he then started receding(82 now).

My dad went to NW5 at 40 and has been there since.. he's 50 now. His dad was the same way. That's where I'd be at 50 without drugs.
