My hair is receding. I know it is not "maturing" whatsoever. :D
I tend to over think stuff like this, so what starting medications should I use? From what i understand Finastoride and Minoxidil are the way to go right? If so, what specific kinds do you guys reccomend (foam vs standard minoxidil)?
I've had trouble finding dermatologists that actually work with hairloss. Will talking to my doctor to get a prescription be fine?

I'm excited to try and reverse my hairloss. Going into this with a good attitude, I think.

Talk to a (or some) dermatologist to have advice. I did that. Here all people will tell you "you are norwood 4 you are going to be bald, take fina its the only way"
I think the best way is to visit some dermatologist to have some opinion
I'm on minoxidil since 1 month, so no result atm

Sorry for my english

Don't listen to the guy above. He clearly has no idea what he's talking about.

First of all, finasteride or any other DHT-blocker is the ONLY way to STOP your hairloss. Minoxidil, or other growth stimulants are not responsible for decreasing your DHT. That's the work of Finasteride.

Secondly, many people (if not all) have been combating hair loss for years (even decades!). I've gone to several dermatologists and my help there has seriously been bad, and I wouldn't have the knowledge I have now without this forum.

Anyway, back to your question.
If you are certain that you're balding due to Male Pattern Baldness, hop on the big three (Finasteride, Minoxidil and Ketoconazole). Although in this case, I'd start off with Finasteride for a couple of months and see how it goes. Minoxidil can be annoying for the lazy user. I also recommend for you to use ketoconazole 2% along with finasteride (study claims that it is as effective like 2% Minoxidil). Good luck :)

Ok then i would really want to see a study or a feedback of users showing a significal difference of efficiency between using of minoxidil, using of fina and using of the big 3.
I don't say you are wrong, i really want to see that. To see that this really restrictive treatment is worth it or if just make you win 2 years of hair.

Mate they’re called “the big 3” for a reason. They are the fist line of defence for male pattern baldness, because they work for a decent percentage of consumers.

To the poster:
Liquid 5% is better for longer hair because the foam will get caught up in in. People generally go for Kirkland brand because it’s widely used and trusted.
You may be able to find a GP who can prescribe you propecia, because it is FDA approved for hairloss and it does indeed appear that you have male pattern baldness. I believe that people have had success on generic brands, but if you are kind of OCD about things you can ask for the brand name stuff. Starting dose is 1mg usually. Best of luck.

I don't say it wasnt more effective ... I ask if its really worth it (or if people think its the only way cause they are desesperated and using the big 3 , and they recommended it to not feel alone :D )

I mean, it's like someone would ask "what do i have to do to be fit?" and people would answer "you have to go 4 times per week to the gym and eat a lot of prot, that s the only way".
NO, it is the most effective if you want the best result, but if you go to the gym once per week, and do some work at home, you will have great results too.
Then it depends of what we want and what we are ready to give to obtain it : )
