You should be using Nizoral anyway. Not necessarily for the itching, but because the ingredient in it supposedly has a beneficial side effects of improving hair quality. I use it, and minoxidil, and rarely flake.

Give the Nizoral some time to work. For me, I noticed a halt to it within a week and a half. If your scalp is still bothering you, add in T Gel. T Gel feel gooooood. Others prefer T Sal, which is similar to T Gel but has a different active ingredient. Still others prefer good ol' Head and Shoulders, another option for you. Experiment and see what works for you.

Personally, after a LOT of shampoo experimentation I use Nizoral on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights, and cycle my normal non-medicated shampoo on other days. I apply the Nizoral, lather it in well, and then let it sit on my head for several minutes while I soap up and wash the rest of my body. Then, rinse out and apply conditioner. You will need conditioner afterwards, Nizoral as a shampoo is somewhat harsh on the hair.

The Gardener as you stated you use nizoral 3x a week and other 4 days do you use t-gel ? because the only shampoos i wash my head with nizoral and t-gel, is this good ? im on minoxidil 5% and t-gel/nizoral makes my head better when washing with them.

cheers :)

Actually, I regularly use the Nizoral 3-4 times a week and on off days use a non-medicated shampoo... my personal preference on that being Infusium 23.

I don't regularly use T-Gel. I keep some around for those days when my scalp just seems to be kind of itchy because it feels so good when you use it, but T-Gel is not part of my regular cycle.

I would not suggest a cycle of ONLY Nizoral and T-Gel... these shampoos are powerful medications, especially Nizoral, and you should rotate them as directed, using non-medicated shampoos on off days.

No, Head and Shoulders is a medicated shampoo, like T-Gel and Nizoral.

Infusium 23 is a normal, non-medicated shampoo.

I suggest mixing in some non-medicated shampoos to your cycle. If you shower/shampoo twice a day, an agressive shampoo rotation would be:

Use non-medicated for all am showers, and in the pm use Nizoral three times, T-Gel twice, and non-medicated twice.

If you only shower once a day, then that limits the variety of shampoos you can fit in. Nizoral is a definite 3x a week, as for the other 4 shampoos, perhaps experiment with a mixing of T-Gel and your non-medicated to see what feels best for you. [/code]

Bonjour!
I've been using Nizoral for 1 1/2 months (3-4 times a week) and my head is still itchy and flaky...At first, when I was taking showers I was just rinsing my head with water(I shaved my head)When I saw it wasn't working I started to use this very, very cheap shampoo and I still have flakes.
Do you think it's my cheap shampoo that is not allowing Nizoral to work properly?
Is it possible that bad shampoo can cause flakes?

Thanx..........

Here is my plan for you. Stop using Nizroal and switch to TGel for 2 to 3 weeks. See if that helps you with your irritation better. If that doesn't work, switch back to nizoral 3 times a week and look into purchasing some folligen.
