25 years old. What is the best option for this much hair loss? Grow it out, shave, treatment, etc.

wondering what other people would do in my hair situation. People sometimes ask why I don’t grow my hair out but the reason is I feel like it makes the fact I’m balding more noticeable.

that is some aggressive hair loss for a 25 year old, if you don't take action now you're going to end up bald for the rest of your life.

if I were him I would skip the bullshit altogether and go for the "real" stuff; Duta and Loniten (assuming he doesn't have heart issues)

Hey can you help me with my treatment?

Dude you’re overthinking . Stop dutasteride and start with finasteride - simple.

OP that is aggressive. You can try finasteride to see if you’re an amazing responder and topical minoxidil but maybe if you’ve let your hair get this far then it doesn’t bother you enough to risk the possible sides ?

I've tried both finasteride and minoxidil and the side effects were not worth continuing for me. I guess I'm exploring my other options, such as a transplant without finasteride use. Not sure what kind of results I'd get with that.

Why start with finasteride??

Because these drugs are no joke. 5ar is an important enzyme in the body. If you can get growth + maintenance with finasteride then there’s no reason risking complete absence of 5ar with dutasteride.

I know people who have been ‘fine’ on finasteride then dutasteride has hit them like a train on both the libido and mental side effect front.

Unfortunately without finasteride then transplants are out of the question.

You can always try topical finasteride to see if there’s a lesser experience of side effects - at least then you could explore the transplant route.

I thought transplanted hairs were DHT resistant? Unless you’re saying it’d a non-option because the other surrounding non-transplanted hairs in my scalp would eventually fall out. In which case I was wondering can’t you just keep getting fue until eventually basically all hairs on your scalp are transplanted? Hopefully that’s not too much of a loaded question

Loniten and 5ar-inhibitors aren’t viable for me due to sides. Exploring other options

You're more than half bald already and wont take finasteride and minoxidil so what miracles are you expecting exactly?
You could try ru ot cb that's about it unless you want to go down the tranny route which is hardly advisable.

Yeah the problem is we only have 5-10k grafts available to transplant depending on the person and if you see someone who has lost all their hair get a 'full head' transplant you'll see that it looks pretty much ridiculous. This is why the likes of Professor Tsuji creating a hair cloning treatment would be so amazing as it would equal unlimited hair to transplant.

I am considering topical finasteride, but basically as a last resort. I'm not too keen on manipulating sex hormones for hair. I'm more considering my transplanting options or the best hairstyles for this level of baldness. Is cb in your post short for cbd oil?

Wasn't aware of Professor Tsuji. Hair cloning sounds like it'd be a huge advancement and worth billions once it's patented. The Doctors should get on that for sure if not for the bald people, for their own pockets.

cb is cb-03-01, it's a topical androgen receptor blocker that is currently in trials. It is not supposed to have any side effects because the drug becomes metabolized into something harmless the moment it hits the bloodstream. It's available now as a research chemical from China. It is as effective as finasteride for 6 months in the latest trial, but after that it seems to lose its efficacy. Topical finasteride has the same rate of side effects as oral finasteride. The previous commenter is right, you are not a candidate for hair transplant without taking finasteride. You will continue to lose your non-transplanted hairs and then you will be left with your transplanted hairs on your hairline with nothing behind them, and you won't be able to get another hair transplant because your donor supply will have already been exhausted.

Thanks for the response. Haven’t heard much about cb-03-01 before on here or anywhere else but it does sound like something atleast worth looking into even if only for short term.

As for topical finasteride, I thought I read that it had a slightly lower side profile as well as slightly lesser effect on DHT levels in blood? Then again it hasn’t had a lot of studies done on it for a full profile of it.

It sounds like finasteride is pretty much mandatory if I want hair based on responses itt so far. Guess I’ll have to consider the trade-offs

Would my hair be redeemable using topical finasteride only with a potential transplant in near future? Also does anyone know how to make topical finasteride? Thanks in advance.

I know everyone laughs at this but have you tried doing deep tissue massages on your scalp? I try to do it a few times a week if I can get around to it. It's easier when you have short hair like yours. Wash and let your hair dry. Clean your hands. Then rub, pinch, stretch, and put pressure with your finger tips on your scalp. Make sure not to use your nails, scratching is bad.

This alone probably won't do much, but it resolves my itchiness for a while. Trying to abstain from PMO helps with the itchiness too. I've been failing at that lately but when I was steady it was good. Not sure if you have the balding itch but it's annoying.
