Everyone doesn't have full on success. Especially not enough to post in the "Success Stories" area. But maybe just a little success. Or just a small area resolved. Or just shedding slowed or stopped. Or minor regrowth in one area. So what has helped you? What's helped for one may help for others. As for me I have finally gotten my daily once 300 hair loss a day down to maybe 10 strings a day. Its the topicals. I use ketoconazole 2% twice a week and Rogaine about 3 - 4 times a week...... Initially because I have dry hair, my biggest obstacle was not being able to use keto much because it tangled and dried my hair to no end even with conditioners. But this is one of my successes, I GOT THE KETOCONAZOLE placed into a shampoo that's right for my hair type by a COMPOUNDING PHARMACIST. If Nizoral is to harsh for you, find a shampoo that works great for your hair and have the keto placed into it by a compounding pharmacist.......NEXT if Rogaine is to harsh in the alcohol, do know a comp. pharm. can place it in an oil. I had to try more than one to get this done but, the one I have now have figured out how to place it in an oil without having a 'wet' oil. In other words if you flat iron your hair you don't want to put the rogaine oil on it and your hair frizzes up again. So the current comp. pharm. dissolves the minoxidil first in the alcohol or whatever then let it DRIES. THEN he can put it in the oil. Viola! Rogaine in an oil formula. So my successes have been getting keto and minoxidil in formulations that I could use. For the first time I'm having the best success which is hardly no shedding. It's best to do the topicals or more of them and less of the anti androgens which I do use but in low low dose. Also, I place the keto shampoo on my scalp and sleep in it. That helps keep the shedding down TREMENDOUSLY............SO, have you had any mini successes, surpassed any obstacles, what's working for you?

Ditto - finasteride is all I have been taking for the last 2 years.

I was using keto shampoo when I started on finasteride, but stopped shortly after because it wasn't doing anything. The only thing I liked about it is it made my hair 'feel' thicker when I used it, but this effect wore off after my next shower when I didn't use it. (maybe it leaves some residue on the hair or something)

I'm with wuffer on the keto not being much of a help, although there is indeed a study supporting its use for hairloss. Any way I couldn't attribute any hair regenerating qualities to it while I used it, tho made my hair maybe a little more 'coarse' and dry. Other than that I use finasteride 0.5mg / day and minoxidil foam twice a day. I should get some of that kirkland liquid because the price is cheap and the liquid might be stronger than the foam because of the delivery agent used. On top of that I take a fish oil supplement, which I can recommend. Makes my hair stronger and healthier, and since minoxidil might allow the hair to receive more nutrients I hypothesize it could actually help regrowth. That's pure speculation and wishful thinking though, but works for me.

Wow I'm surprised what you all say about the keto because it's been the ONLY thing and it HAS WORKED TREMENDOUSLY to stop my hair fall. I've just recently added the min within the last say month. But the keto made me go from say 300 a day hair fall to about 20-25 a day. Incredible how it's helped me. Funny it hasn't helped you all.

The big 3 are working for me. Im not sure how much the keto helps but its cheap and I have to wash my hair anyway. These three treatments combined have done much better than finasteride alone.

Keto irritated my scalp, and I actually strongly disliked how it left my hair; I discontinued shortly after starting.

I'm a couple months in on finasteride, so it's too early to say it's working with certainty. I will say this has got rid of the itch, and it's caused me to shed many miniaturized hairs from the ~1.5 to 2 month mark. So, I'm hopeful, and excited to see how things are at the 6 month mark and beyond.

Finasteride 1.25mg and kirkland's minoxidil stopped my hair loss for a few years and had some regrowth on my temple and maintained my crown hair, then I dropped minoxidil because the itchiness got to the point where it was unbearable, and I was also advised by my doctor to switch to foam, but I dropped it altogether because of money issues. The finasteride alone just slowed down my hair loss, so the minoxidil was really helping.

I added dutasteride 0.5mg less than 2 weeks ago and it stopped my hair loss. I added Rogaine [Rogaine foam in the day, Rogaine liquid at night] just a couple of days after dutasteride and my crown is refilling, very slowly but it is refilling. But the regrowth is not that noticeable, it is very subtle and can only be seen with camera flash. No temple regrowth yet but I do not expect that right now. Then again, it is too early to tell if I have had any regrowth whatsoever and I may just be imagining things because I want regrowth so bad. I will know any where from 4-9 or even 12 months, I took pictures of pre-treatment, so time will tell. I really think i'll have something good by 4-5 months though.

As far as the question goes, I would say finasteride 1.25mg/day, dutasteride 0.5mg/day, and Rogaine foam/liquid 2x/day are working to stop and reverse my male pattern baldness. male pattern baldness has been neutralized and now all I need is regrowth, which will happen in time.

Nothing working for me as I'd like it. Frontal area still receding.

And the main reason of this may be the fact that your discipline is very bad. You should emphasize it in your every post. Especially the sentences like ""I seriously think my hair is heavily dependant on the minoxidil now as if I ever have upto 7 days without applying it..."

The only treatment that should have close to 100% efficiacy is dutasteride.

Consider this simple math: Dominican pseudohermaphrodites lack the enzyme 5-ar II that is responsible for ca. 75-80% of DHT in your body. They never go bald. Finasteride suppresses blood DHT by 70% - and this is more than enough for the majority of men. Yet not for all men. Dutasteride can suppress DHT by as much as 99%. The logical conclusion is that balding on dutasteride is not possible - unless your doctor injected DHT into your bloodstream.

But there are still cases, when dutasteride doesn't help, and I think that there are two reasons for this: First, the affected men don't have male pattern baldness, but some other form of a hair disease. Second, there may be a small percentage of men with excessively high testosterone levels, in which the use of dutasteride leads to a vicious circle. I can demonstrate it on an example of this unhappy guy:

@Jimmy that's what I need myself. Desperately need regrowth. I'm thinking of maybe using nizoral about 3 x's a week. A guy in the shedding section started using nizoral 2% every day and with min he's getting some phenomenal results. Wow! Later I want to get a topical anti androgen to use daily. @Warlord I don't know about using dutasteride. I'd like to start on the lowest stuff first and have something to work up to over time.

Bowser, I have always been impressed by your postings.

For a while you were using Dualgen 15. Are you now using finasteride 1mg and Dualgen 15? What else, if you don't mind me asking?

I have steadily lost ground since the closure of Richard Lee. finasteride 1mg, Xandrox 5 and Xandrox 15, grew and thickened, then maintained for years. With finasteride 1mg, Rogaine foam and Dualgen 15 no PG, I have steadily lost ground.

Any suggestions?

Did you ever use Xandrox 15?
