Hi, I'm a newb here, age 22 and my hairline is receding fast(Norwood 2.5), and recently the rest of my head began to thin too. I wanted to get a prescription for finasteride, and the only place I could think of was Ashley and Martin, but after reading them up on hair loss forums it seems they're an expensive rip off.

Can you guys recommend a doctor in Perth who prescribes finasteride, and how much they cost?
If you do get a prescription, do you HAVE to buy propecia, or can you just buy finasta/proscar and cut it up(hell cheaper)?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply talmoode - how much does your GP charge you for it? The consultation? How long does it take? Just one visit, or multiple checkups and whatnot before they write you the script? Thanks.

yes just one visit. I told my GP that I was losing hair and needed a prescription for Propecia ($240 for 90 tablets and I got 3 repeats). the consulation cost me $25 after rebate. Also there are lots of bulk billing medical clinics around so check them out!

Prescription for Finasteride and Minoxidil 7% + 0.01% Retinoic Acid

Along the same lines as the gent that started this thread, was just wondering if anyone could offer any advice on how willing Doctors in Australia are write a prescription for Finasteride and Minoxidil 7% + 0.01% Retinoic Acid? I've been using these with some success with a hair loss treatment program, but it is pretty expensive and I've seen advice on these forums indicating that it is much cheaper to get a prescription from a GP. Can anyone offer some advice on whether their GP has been happy to prescribe these medications, or it is a pretty difficult exercise?

Cheers.
