Where do I start if I want to find a cure for hair loss?

I've been researching hair loss and treatments for several years now, but purely as a hobby.

Now, I have grown older, became more confident, have a relatively good life, but feel like I really want to achieve something great.

One thing I have always been passionate is hair loss. Like most of you I wish there was a cure for androgenetic alopecia that didn't involve switching genders.

However, I don't even know where to start. I don't have any background in chemistry or medicine. Where do I start learning? Which are the fields to focus on? Genetic engineering?

I understand that I will have to learn basics of chemistry and regenerative medicine to even begin discussing potential solutions and cooperation with expert scientists, chemists and doctors.

Please share your idea of where to start. I know more or less how I will coordinate this project, but I need to educate myself in the basic technical aspects of any related fields.

I'm really serious about this, I am sick of just waiting for things to happen. I want to make them happen.

I sense the force is strong with you, I will gladly take you on as my apprentice, together we shall defeat hair loss and crush the Jedi.

You will never succeed even if it´s bullet proof, due to the huge industry itself.

I know it probably sounds impossible to most people but there is always a chance, most discoveries happen by accident so who the hell knows. I guess you would want to read a ton about dna, genetics, biology in general , im not a scientist though.

PS if you really did find the cure, and you tried to release it you would be killed by one of the big Drug companies, they don't want there billion dollar industry to be threatened.

Why not? People said that thing about electric cars and planes as well.

Yeah right, if you find a compound that cures hair loss, surely the big pharma mafia is going to show up at your door and bust your knees.
Life isn't a movie. I have resources and roof as well.

I'd like to people who are educated in natural sciences maybe just give me some pointers and basics on technicalities.

Oh my.
Would be be perfect for the whole ongoing industry, and the FDA would approve a cure for hair loss seriously?
Do your math before posting.

What would happen to your Doctor putting hair on your head?

Sorry i meant the puppet FDA.

You will need resources (money, time, research subjects)

lol, everyone on this forum thinks the hairloss industry has some big cure cover up going on. Its not an evil powerful corporation, has plenty of conmen but really who ever makes the cure will make massive money. They could charge 15,000 per cure and most men will opt for it even if it puts them in debt. There will always be balding people, men go start balding every year, the people selling a cure keep making money. Selling a cure wont mean less money in their pockets than if they were to keep pushing min and finasteride forever..

I 100% believe that if there was a cure we would know all about it...I just think that the cure for hairless is more complex than we might believe.

You already know the answer.

To become a expert could be the easy part depending on how intelligent you are and on your learning capabilities, drive etc. You could become one relatively quick. Start reading and talk with people who are expert at it.

However when you will find yourself eventually in the lab you will stumble upon the same problems current scientists have. Unless you find a better model or will start testing stuff on yourself. That being said it would be nice to have more people making advancements in the field as we lack scientists. There are not many worldwide lol.

In the day of Edison or Einstein, it was possible for a genius without any real science background to emerge and move the field along with brilliant and original insights. Today, in the era of supercomputers, automation, massive companies and labs with millions of dollars to play with, not so much.

I am not planning on doing it alone, I just need to know basic stuff so I can organise scientists and teams to work on it and secure funding.

I like your enthusiasm but you won't make any breakthrough discoveries ahead of scientists that have been researching this for years (with millions of dollars in grant money/private funding)

I would suggest to look for some kind of hi-tech hair replacement.
A lot of people suffer from having hair of bad quality. Fat, thin, fragile, bad color, bad shape, no gloss etc.

Maybe if you could replace natural hair with something artificial, 3d-printed and designed individually for each person - you'll hit the bank and resolve 100x more problems than hairloss alone.
And, more importanly, no side effects and unnecessary hormonal balance shifts.
