So I have been digging into this forum, but haven't found the thread where people are recommending legitimate sites that sell Nizoral 2%. I use 1% and like it, hear 2% is better. Thanks for any info on where to find it, online assumedly.

2% is a prescription so your Doctor/ Derm would be the place to go.
I believe this is a worldwide forum...not everybody lives in the USA!
In my country you can get it from the supermarket shelf.

Thanks, any legitimate online places? I see other things are recommended to get from online pharmacies (mainly the pill treatments), but don't know which one sells N at 2%.

Risugo,

While I really enjoy you pointing that out I would like to also direct you to the original creator of this thread who IS in the USA and is who's question I was responding to. Even though this forum is based in the USA, I am very aware we have members from all over the world and try to take that into consideration each time I reply on the board.
While you Risugo may be able to buy it on the shelf in your country, he is unable to unless he were to fly from the US to your country to buy a bottle of shampoo.

In the future please keep in mind we can see the Ip's of posters and know the location where they live when we respond. In addition your answer provided no help to the question at hand.

Thanks :)

S320,

Try unitedpharmacies.com, they used to sell it awhile back and may still. I have bought it from them in the past.

PropeciaJunkie,
You have made your point.
What you dont know if s320 travels abroad where he can find Nizoral in a super-market shelf. I can give you a example, I live in Portugal but I travel a lot, in my country I need a prescription to buy propecia but in others I just buy it from a local pharmacy. In my country you can not buy a single minoxidil based product. Last week I was in Mexico and I bought 10 bottles. In this forum I read a lot of advices not to buy products online, because is not save and I agree, what we dont know is if they exist locally...
The problem is that sometimes, some people in this forum try to generalize situations that differ from country to country. :)

Thanks guys,
Any legit Canadian companies online? I see quite a few, don't know if anyone has a recommended one that has been tried and tested as ok. Much appreciated.

s320,
Before you decided for Nizoral with 2% of ketoconazole read Dr. Loren Pickart's opinion in skinbiology.com
And I quote,
"Ketoconazole has serious toxicity problems such as liver damage.
It is toxic enough so that it is being replaced by other drugs.

From http://www.doctorfungus.org/thedrugs/ketoconazole.htm

Ketoconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent. As with other imidazoles, it has five-membered ring structures containing two nitrogen atoms. It is marketed as Nizoralâ„¢ by Janssen Pharmaceutica (http://us.janssen.com/). Ketoconazole has oral tablet, cream and dandruff shampoo formulations. The oral formulation is available in USA since 1981. Ketoconazole is the only member of the imidazole class that is currently used for treatment of systemic infections.

Ketoconazole is a highly lipophilic compound. This property leads to high concentrations of ketoconazole in fatty tissues and purulent exudates. Expectedly, the distribution of ketoconazole into cerebrospinal fluid is poor even in the presence of inflammation. Its oral absorption and solubility is optimal at acidic gastric pH [2092, 2288].

While ketoconazole was more widely used before the development of newer, less toxic, and more effective triazole compounds, fluconazole and itraconazole, its use has now been limited. It now appears as an alternative drug for specific indications." End of quote.

Dr. L. Pickart is a very respectable person with many published scientific papers.

Yeah, at this point I have come to the realization that none of these drugs are good for you. You have a pill that messes with your hormones, a topical foam that they still don't know exactly how it works and causes irritation, so I am not surprised by this. The real truth is that we still don't have anything really good to deal with the issue of hair loss. What we have now is the best of what is available to us. Again I came to the realization that none of it is great for your body, now it seems Nizoral is included in that...?

I would just stick with Nizoral 1%, it's cheaper, safer, and as for as I know is equally effective at fighting hair loss but I could be wrong. Anyone know of any studies comparing Nizoral 1% and 2% in fighting hair loss?
