Hi!

I’ve been ‘lurking’ on this forum for a few years now.

I’ll be 30 this year and have been slowly thinning and receding since my early 20’s.

I’ve alwas had quite a high hair line but it’s at the point now where there’s not much I can do to hide it so I keep it pretty short.

I don’t use any products to conceal or even to style my hair.

I have been using Watermans shampoo and conditioner for around 4 weeks and have noticed slight improvement in volume.

In 2015 I bit the bullet and booked an appointment with a local trichologist who prescribed a very expensive supply of 12.5 minoxidil with Az Acid. I used this every night before bed for 3 months and experienced quite a noticeable shed. I gave up after the 4th month as it was too expensive and I’d also noticed my skin looked pretty damaged, under my eyes etc seemed to become dry and a bit puffy.

I’ve not been on anything since and am at the point where I am seriously considering a transplant as the loss is slow and steady, I would imagine I’m a NW3-4?

My confidence is at an all time low, I rarely socialise anymore and wear a hat for work 90% of the time as I’m so embarassed.

I’m really reluctant to try finasteride due to the side effects. But I suspect there wouldn’t be many surgeons who wouldn’t recommend a transplant without it.

So I suppose what I want to know is do you think I’m a good candidate for a transplant and is it even worth considering U.K. surgeons or should I just concentrate on abroad.

Cheers

A

Hey man, thanks for the post. Your hairloss isn't that bad in my honest opinion. If I were you, I'd get Kirkland Minoxidil through ebay (30-40$/6 months), finasteride (probably about 50$ at most for 1 year supply), and nizoral (below 20$ for 4 months)

No worries, I recommend for you to carefully read about possible sides, the fact that you need to be on medication for life etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask

Don’t start finasteride and minoxidil at the same time. Use finasteride as your base in order to stabilise your hairloss. Add minoxidil later if you want to achieve regrowth.
