Is baldness the problem or is it just the negative perspective on it?

^ This is a critical question that deserves some attention...

When I was diffusing strangely enough, I wasn't so bothered by it. Once the diffusion became much more prominent and the hairline disappeared I was truly gutted by my new appearance. Even though I still hate it, I've gotten used to it but it took many years just for me to get to that point. What I will never get used to though is others reactions to my bald head. Every time someone snickers at me or stares at me with that sh*t eating grin on their face or when womens faces shrivel up when they look at me... just tears open those old wounds all over again.

So, it has to be the negative perception of baldness that is the real killer and constant agitator for me.

I do acknowledge that I got little chance of getting virtually any girl now that my hair is all but gone. It doesn't matter that much as long as I have little to no libido after finasteride. I just have to focus my energy on other things...

you mentioned before you received gyno from finasteride. like was it actually gyno to the point where the gland was developing or do you just notice excess fat in that region?

^Excess fat but the gyno isn't that bad, I had some before finasteride and it got a little worse. While I was ON finasteride the breasts hurt occasionally and that wasn't nice.

I don't think this deserves it's own topic, so I'll just leave it here...

I'm glad Exodus is gone. He was a prolific poster, I'll give him that but you know the saying, "Those who talk the most have the least to say". I never felt the better for reading any of his posts. All talk and no substance. I won't miss his text talk either, his LOL's and FAP FAP FAP's. Good riddance.

Gosh, this is the #1 thing I am most concerned about with finasteride. Otherwise I'd try just take dutasteride right away. All the other side effects, for the most part, is supposed to disappear after the discontinuation of the drug. (Maybe not in your case?) But once that gland starts to develop, it would probably be very hard to make it smaller without surgery. I suppose I could deal with excess fat. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread.

All very true.

It p*sses me off that bald guys haven't taken more of a stance against the media/negative publicity of bald/balding guys. Just because we're men then we're supposed not to care or have any emotions or insecurities. Yet we are suffering every bit as much as the women who are anorexic and want to look stick thin because models are stick thin. Everybody shows support for the women saying those things; 'use real women' they'll say. Bald guys would be laughed away. Honestly, people need to make a stance on this sort of thing, because more and more young guys are getting huge depression because the media and tv brainwashes EVERYBODY to think that something perfectly natural is some terrible thing.

everytime a regaine advert comes onn 'we all feel as our best with a full head of hair'...makes me wanna smash the tv up ffs.

and i thought the moderator felt like like he had enough of him. damn, i actually liked him, despite that he was being a bit of an a**h** lately. i had many things in common with him hence i could relate to him and i would have maintained a neutral stand towards him as long as he didn't insult me personally.

I don't know why, but it seems that the women always tend to stare at my thinning hair. They probably think I'm stupid or blind and won't notice, but it's obvious that they're staring straight at my head instead of my eyes. It's a f*****g convo killer alright. I'm in customer service and I hate someone staring at my head instead of my eyes...

Because they lack social grace and common courtesy.

I remember when I was working at 7-11 and this mom came in with her two young teenage girls. When they came to my register, this 14 year old girl was talking to me slowly and in this tone like I was retarded. I was stunned how rude she was being but even more aghast that her mother didn't seem to care. Perhaps she was a baldist too.

too bad you didn't have a shotgun behind that register, if there was one and if that was me in your place i'd have introduced both of those c**** and their faces to a shotgun blast.

Guys like SAF are always saying exactly that because we are men we are not supposed to care about the way we look. And while I feel like he might as well imply that guys aren't supposed to have emotions or express them either, I know he is actually being critical of that mentality because despite whatever pre-concieved notions about gender roles and masculinity that may exist, the truth is that we have a soul and emotions like everyone else.... and those emotions should not be repressed.

This social expectation for us bald guys to "not care" about our appearance matched with the very real fact that there is an underlying malevolence toward baldness leaves those of us who are inflicted with this unfortunate trait stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Because I don't have Down's Syndrome in my face:/ Baldness is my only flaw, and make no mistake it is seen as a flaw. That and she was a teenage girl, come on now.

Well do you at least have a nice shaped head? If so, then baldness is probably not so much of a flaw maybe :dunno:

 your splitting hairs. You think a fourteen year old girl is going to consider my head shape? She sees a bald head, she says "eww", end of story. Is that so hard to believe?
