At least if someone can admit honestly that they are coping by being on HRT and also have identity issues that enable them to validate their decision, then that's a start. Janey couldn't do that and obviously lives in an alternate reality at this point.

Does gender actually matter? ultimately no one cares what others believe or perceive themselves to be.

Obviously this is the type of mental illness where the infected person tries to drag others down with them. I really don't care if someone takes HRT or not, if you want to make that decision for yourself you have the free will to do that - just don't try to make others think it's all sunshine and rainbows.
No it does not for me socially. But physical gender features do cause me a irrational distress, known as gender dysphoria. The only known cure for this is HRT. My biggest triggers are balding, body hair, male libido and now my deep voice when talking loudly. I don't consider this a mental illness however, it's more of a endocrine disorder, that is a mismatch between the hormones, body and brain.

Yeah, just like for example autism, but that is primarily a neurological disorder. The psychological aspect is caused by the physical one.
