Why does finasteride work for some People but not for others? does it have something with hormones? or what is it

Well, the most extended case is when the excess of DHT which can not be inhibited (that residual percentage of testosterone that actually becames DHT) is enough to damage your follicles. It could also be that you not are suffering from male pattern baldness. Besides these cases, it is still unknowns.
In my case, after 6 months I havent had sides but Im still losing long hair and hair density is way worse than at the beggining, It's like finasteride never had been in my organism. Quite ****ty, if you ask me.

Do you have aggressive hair loss then? Any more balding family?

The most reasonable theory is up-regulation of AR's. Sometimes when you take a medication and alter your physiology in one respect, your body simply says, "f*ck you" and changes it in another to compensate. It happens all the time with a variety of medications. Homeostasis is hardwired through millions of years of evolution. Your body doesn't always like change, or go along with it. It favors equilibrium. Tip the scales in one direction, your body counterbalances it by tipping it in the other.

My hair is losing ground so much faster since i jumped on finasteride. And i have been on it for over a year now. Lost overall density waaay faster and my temples just dissapeared.
finasteride CAN make your androgen receptors more sensitive, which will speed up your balding.

Have you got a study which shows this? I've seen ones that show up regulation in the prostate, but nothing in the scalp.

Depends on how aggressive your male pattern baldness is
The problem is male pattern baldness is still so poorly understood and complicated that no one knows a lot of the answers to questions like this. The simple answer is no one really knows, but if you want to guess I would say timing when someone starts finasteride is a pretty big piece of it because we know male pattern baldness is not reversible with AAs. Also the sensitivity piece of why hair becomes sensitive to androgens, and how sensitive it is was always a really big piece of the puzzle. I dont think much is even known about that if its just receptors, if they adapt to different androgen levels, and so on. Also finasteride raises T levels which could play some role in male pattern baldness maybe if your hair is really sensitive, and finasteride does not stop DHT completely its not perfect even at that.
There are so many factors is why male pattern baldness is, and probably will remain with us for a long long time to come. Plenty of more years to debate these same questions

Yup...The only answer right now is not really an answer at all, rather just personal experiences. I will tell you a couple side effects that I personally experienced, that correlate well with almost every one that has a negative scalp reaction to finasteride.
1) super, super high libido. No joke. Had not had a single morning erection since high school - had them every morning on finasteride and in the middle of the night. My test levels were high while on it, but still within reasonable levels. My DHT was at the bottom of the spectrum. I am STILL having this, almost 3 months off of it. But, I am on dutasteride now, so that may still be causing this
2) oily oily skin - especially at the hair line
3) extreme sweating
4) insomnia
5) HORRIBLE scalp irritation associated with drastic, drastic shedding. Hair line thinned, crown just obliterated. Like shower and hands are FULL of 30 hairs every time you run them through
No one can explain 100% what caused this reaction. Some things make sense, some don't. It goes to show how many different pathways a compound can be involved in. and, even if not, it's effect on other compounds in other pathways, like testosterone. I never fear monger with finasteride, it truly is a miracle for some people. I just believe in biochemistry while having a lack of faith in the full disclosure / true scientific analysis of FDA trials. There are A LOT of things we really don't know. Things that were NOT evaluated or tested for.
