Why everybody say in here Propecia is ONLY for maintenance?

Everybody says in here that Rogaine does the regrowth and Propecia keeps the hair. That is absolutely bull! Sure Rogaine can keep your hair and regrow but Propecia is much more effective. It doesn't just keep hair it also regrows hair 2/3 of men and real thick hair unlike Rogaine that only does peach fuzz although some do get normal hair too. Propecia also make the miniaturzied hairs normal and if you have a lot of them that automatically makes everything a lot fuller. This makes totally sense, all Propecia does is remove the DHT which is a major cause in male pattern baldness and once your hair follicles are not affected by DHT anymore well they grow normally again and recently lost hairs (2-3 years) can sprout out again.

Surely, adding Rogaine to Propecia can give you better results but Propecia alone may do the job. In my opinion to use both at the same time is for worse cases and all in all Propecia is way better to regrow thicken, and of course maintain hair then Rogaine!

2-3 years?! don't follicles die soon after?

I would tend to agree with you. I believe finasteride does more than just maintain. I have been using both minoxidil (1 yr) and finasteride(6 mths). Stopped minoxidil due to the constant shedding and went solo with finasteride. Within a month the shedding reduced and I saw thickening.

still early days, just hope the shed does'nt resume after a lull.

Finasterid is the best all the Years it helps wonderfull

all minoxidil User should Quit finasteride and see what minoxidil does allone (Poor)
few Men have with minoxidil allone success ,but the most Men have No success with minoxidil allone
or can make the Hairs worse as bevor

How many Men have take minoxidil 8-12Month with No success
than finasteride and Hair the comes

85% finasteride
15% minoxidil

bottom line is everyone reacts differently, so some people could see crazy regrowth, some people could see continued loss.

for most people (i think the study was 80-90%) propecia maintains and regrows/thickens existing hair.

for me it has definitely regrown some in the crown, and maintained everywhere else.

Actually 99% of men keep their during the first 2 years and 90% for 5 years. After doing my research on Propecia it's hard to believe it can do so much good for so long.

As for the men that continue to lose hair on Propecia those are not many and the ones that are heading towards NW6-7 usually or with very aggressive genes and even for them Propecia helps but not for too long though.

I think Propecia is only for maintinence in the long term.

It can regrow/thicken hair in the short term for a lot of guys. But after several years most are slipping back a bit. At that point they all start complaining that their finasteride is "failing." If they'd just always looked at finasteride as a maintinence tool and not assumed that the temporary gains were gonna be permanent, they wouldn't be so disappointed.

Well you said it brother lol! Propecia does thicken/regrow hairs. What I was saying about the maintanence is that guys in here say that Propecia only keeps your hair to how it is you started and nothing more. Of course over time your hair even on Propecia will start falling out again, your genes will win in the end.

Sounds like you have good results Xplosive.

How did you take it, simply 1mg a day or start small dosages etc.?

I'd be happy for it to maintain my hairline...I'd be just about content if it simply slowed it down, but if it thickened the thinning hair near the temples (Unlikely from what I've read as it's the hardest place to regrow) I'd be absolutely delightled.

Actually no I'm almost 5 months in but haven't seen anything yet but nothing worse either (I'm on 1mg a day). If your hairline is very much there just less volume like mine Propecia may do a good job there if you are in your 20s and the same goes for your temples unless they are completely bald. So to say Propecia works the whole scalp equally. The important thing is to have a lot of miniaturization.

I hope I respond well then - My temples in terms of baldness only receeds about 1-2cm. It's the minaturisation around it which is the problem. I'm hoping I don't get sides - Problem is I'm getting paranoid about loss of libido/erection problems to the point where I'm probably likely to psychologically trick myself into thinking I've got them despite having no physical problem.
