Why I dont think DHT is causing my thinning/miniaturization!!!

This is what I dont understand about my problems and what is killing me? I have fatigue, depression, low libido, sparse pubic/underarm hair (not as thick as used to be anyway) and total head miniaturization with reduced facial hair growth.... also head/facial hair is turning color from light brown to copper blonde.... I have no balding, no recession.... I have total uniformed miniaturization of scalp hair (top/front/sides/back) as well as facial hair....

Now, If I had a Dht problem.. wouldnt I have strong facial hair growth, oily/itchy scalp, and a good sex drive/libido? I dont have any of these DHT traits, I have the opposite of what increased DHT indicates.....

Am I missing anything or is this about accurate from what DHT would indicate...

I can only attribute my problems to a few things..... 1)- My dhea levels tested very low which may be throwing my hormones out of whack (ie testosterone/estrogen. 2)- I could have adrenal fatigue (low dhea is a good indicator of Adrenal fatigue and I just took the saliva cortisol test last night, mailing out today) 3)- I could have low IGF1/HGH levels from stress/over excercising/ low calorie intake over an extended perioud of time (I had blood work drawn to test IGF-1/HGH levels 2 days ago) 4)- Estradiol levels is high...I could be suffering from Estrogen problems (this could indicate why I have reduced facial hair growth and reduced libido and little bit of fatty nipples/breast area despite being only 8% body fat.. 5)- Sleep deprivation.... I have not had a complete 8hr nights sleep in over 2 years, sleep for 2 or 3 hrs and wake up and have a hard time falling back asleep... Melatonin is probably lagging big time!

One thing which was really wierd is that my hair thinned/miniaturized dramatically in one months time!! (literally, not sensationalizing)..... It didnt thin/miniaturize during a shed cycle, it thinned as it continued growing.. is this normal?

go see a doctor.

If you think you might be imagining your hairloss then post some pics so we can scrutinize your cranial region. It's good that you are doing research and you seem fairly calm but when something so disturbing and mysterious happens to you, don't you think you should consult a professional and not a public forum?

I am seeing a doctor right now and having a sheeeit load of blood work done..... and trying to make sense of it all!!! I am consulting a public forum because I am looking for answers to questions that the doctors I am talking to dont seem to have as of yet..... maybe, just maybe someone might identify the problem I have and have a solution or suggestion to help my situation....

I guess it's a fair assumption to assume a skilled altruistic individual is lurking around the forum and is eager to help you. Then again, you have a medical condition which can only be assessed by a licensed physician. All this being said, let us wait for someone to address your issue although i doubt you will have your clear cut answer.

If you have low DHEA levels, it definitely could be your adrenals or your pituitary. DHEA is the precursor to all androgens, progesterone, and estrogen. Low DHEA is going to mean low testosterone, which will mean low estrogen. A thorough testing of your adrenal glands should be performed with a cortisol level, electrolytes, another DHEA level, and possibly even an aldosterone level would be nice. Your pituitary should be tested, as well, with an ACTH level.

However, hair loss can be caused by a lot of things and something as simple as not sleeping and increased stress can raise cortisol levels and cause havoc to your immune system. Sometimes, you just need to slow down and learn to take care of yourself better. People forget that and then they end up at the doctor.

docj077,

Can these other problems of hairloss manifest themselves in miniaturization like that of Androgenetic Alopecia!!!

Who told you these are "DHT traits"? I am balding because my follicles are genetically sensitive to DHT. I can't grow a beard, I don't have an oily/itchy scalp, and my sex drive/libido is about normal. These were all the cases before I started meds as well.

Everyone comes on here thinking male pattern baldness can't happen to them, but if I were a betting man I would bet you, shyguy, that you in fact have male pattern baldness. I would see a Doctor about it as you are doing but in 99% of cases it is in fact male pattern baldness.

Androgenetic Alopecia is more than just miniaturization of a hair follicle. There is an underlying disease process bascially causing the destruction of cells in and around the follicle itself.

Hair loss or stunted hair growth can be caused by a lot of things and you need your doctor to really test you thoroughly to see what the underlying problem is for what you're experiencing.

Its amazing you wrote this as I have very similar characteristics. I dont have any body hair, barely any facial hair and I dont fit many of the known characteristcs of one who has high amounts of DHT. I'm asian and have black hair, and for whatever reason the hair gets lighter and lighter in color. If it keep doing this Ill be a brunette soon. I also see my hair thin in a single cycle. How do i know this? Since starting propecia I decided to keep my hair long. By doing this, theoretically if propecia is working I should see my shedded hair have more thickeness along the new part of the hair (closer to the root). However, I've seen the complete opposite, alongside the color changes too. If you find out from your Doctor whats wrong with you I would be very interested in knowing too

I take it that you are not having any progress with propecia! but are you experiencing any sides from it?

Right now, the dr. thinks I may be suffering from adrenal fatigue due to my low DHEA levels (I just completed a saliva cortisol test, waiting for results to determine my cortisol levels) this will give a clear indication if I have adrenal fatigue and I guess this can contribute to thinning miniaturization. They are also checking my IGF-1/HGH (human growth hormone) levels.

The amazing thing is that I went from a decent head of hair to very miniaturized crappy hair within this past 1 month (no exageration)........... I have pictures to prove how quick it happened.... Im at a loss right now of what to do...... or what I am suffering from.....

Im working on getting some of the pics on her!

The one thing that I keep pondering and myself questions about is why is my facial hair (which is normally medium brown color) and scalp hair (which is normally light brown/dark blonde color) both thinning/miniaturizing and turning colors to a copper blonde.... that is wierd... why is my facial hair coinciding with my scalp thinning and color changing?
