Why Is Keto Shampoo Part Of "the Big 3"?

Feels like this nizoral shampoo, or any shampoo containing Ketozanole, is mentioned is every post. At the same time, I only read negativ stuff about it. It either A) Makes the hair worse, or B) does nothing. But still this shampoo is mentioned in every treatment post. What are the facts about this shampoo? I know there have been a minor study on this shampoo on rats, and I think it showed that rats that got nizoral on them growed their hair a bit faster.

So when there are really no proof of Keto stopping or regrowing, and most people here have negative experience with this shampoo, why is it still so popular and named in many, many treatment threads?

Can someone illuminate me

I've read Keto is meant to reduce inflammation and itching which can contribute to hair loss. It may also have a small effect on blocking DHT. You're right though that more studies probably need to be done.

I think I've been using nizoral 2x a week for 7 years now, funny how it's been the only consistent thing I take over those years. It could make your hair worse if you use it too frequently as it dries it out a bit, using conditioner right afterwards helps.

What has it done for you? Can you point at something and say "Nizoral def improved this"?

What Nizoral/Keto shampoos do for certain is get rid of dandruff and itching. This is primarily what they were designed for and it's just about the most powerful thing on the market for combatting these things.
The idea that Keto combats baldness/makes hair grow was discovered in studies later on and though results were positive, unfortunately the size of these studies means that the results are also sceptical. If you look at any Keto based shampoo bottle you'll won't read any claims about "growing hair" or "stopping baldness".

I finally dialed it down to the keto that was making my head break out with what felt like infected hair follicles then would shed. Stopped the keto and went with a tea tree oil shampoo and scalp never felt so healthy. Maybe I had a fungal problem but no more head “pimples” since the switch and shaft size of hair seems to be thicker and also dry flakes and itching scalp have all but gone.

Did you have bad dandruff/seb derm before you started it and is that fully gone with the tea tree oil you’ve been using? I’ve been using keto for a while but I don’t like it that much..

Nizoral is part of the 'big 3' because it is actually medicated, rather than just a herbal tea. Some studies suggest it has similar effects as minoxidil, at least on rats. I'm yet to see solid proof of it helping hair growth on humans. Usually this is hard to test, as it is used in conjunction with a dht inhibitor or growth simulator.

I use it because it keeps my scalp very healthy. No dry skin, itching or irritation. As a teacher I actually see a lot of students with dandruff in the winter - we could all use with something to fight the flakes.

Hair is like growing vegetables. If you have healthy soil, the roots will be stronger. And a normal balance of nutrients will make the crops thicker. Adding nizoral to your regimen in the recommended dosages will certainly not cause any harm, and at worst it will help create a more hospitable and positive environment for hair growth.
