Sheds are good 'cos they make way for thicker, better quality hair.

Miniaturised hair falls out... thick, terminal hair grows in its place...

That's how it works dude :)

Nizoral is a "must have" because it's an cheap boost to any regimen than takes no extra effort.

Bullshit, just take a look at the masses of people who got itchy scalp and increased shedding while showering. Mark, I advise you NOT to use it. In the end it is just a shampoo.

The 'masses' of people? Huh? Get a clue before you start with these outlandish claims. There is a reason it is a part of the 'big 3.' If it dries out your hair then use a moisturizing conditioner.

Increased shedding while showering... Taugenichts, hair being shed today is not a result of hair loss treatments or shampoo used today or yesterday. These hairs were destined to hit the shower drain no matter what shampoo you happened to be using that particular day.

Well, what can I say? All I noticed when I took Ket-Shampoo (not only nizoral, but also super expensive Revita) was itching and increased shedding. And i definetly didn´t imagine that. So, that´s why I give the advice to people to not use it and if they do they should be really careful. I wonder what you people would think if you had actually made a similiar experience......

nizoral increased scalp irritation for me. and if redness of the scalp is any indication, it also increased inflammation.

Increase shedding is not necessarily a bad thing. For the hair to be back to its healthy stage, it needs to go through couple growing cycles and this shedding is just one of the interstages.

I agree shedding is scary sometimes, but if you want thicker healthier hair, its one of the stage you must go through.

Yeah, maybe with minoxidil, but not with Nizoral. Well, it is just my opinion based upon my experience. I have no other facts to prove my point. Try it out yourself!

Its not a must have but it helps.

Some ppl seem to have negative reaction from it though.

Taug, try this trick I learned from tynanw a while back. if you experience dryness irritation from shampoo, minoxidil, whatever.. one day a week or so apply a good moisturizing lotion/creme to your scalp and leave it on overnight. I would do this once a week and perhaps skip minoxidil for that day or using minoxidil in the AM and this before you go to sleep. It works very well for me.

i believe if you use shampoo on your head, why not make it nizoral? + a organic conditioner. my hair is getting fuller every day, and I believe I don't have any worries anymore about hair loss. it's like an after-thought now.

the regimen is easier than people think. it just requires a little "effort" I laugh at people who accept their hair-loss as a solution. because, well, it's pathetic and you've given up. my opinion though.

I agree plusryan, hair loss should be treated as any other chronic condition. Its cosmetic nature should not make any difference.

I get dermatitis flare-ups. I don't just "accept it", I treat it so I don't end up with blotches on my skin. I treat my hair loss so I don't end up with no hair.

just think people, if you give up you fail completely. if you keep fighting against hair-loss, you will be rewarded in the end. with a head of hair that is.

Stop using the 2% version. It continues to confuse me how many people just assume they should go to the higher percent just because its a higher percent ... and therefore it must be better. 1% is sufficient and necessary for every regimen in my opinion, and should not be left out.

Inflammation is an extremely common side effect for men going through pattern hair loss, which can adversely affect hair. This is why the Propecia trials were done with T-Gel shampoo (another anti-inflammatory).

I started nizoral 1% about 2 months ago.

ive had an itchy front and vertex for the past two years and hair thinning slowly in those regions as well.

in the third week of using nizoral, my itchiness halted, completely. i went through a shed, it lasted about about 3 weeks, now it doesnt shed at all and seems heaps thicker.

btw, i used it everyday for about two weeks, now im using it every second or third day.

i really need to pull on my hair now to atleast see some hairs fall out.
i also started 0.5mg finasteride about 8 days ago, to give my hair an extra boost.

Imho, i think nizoral is extremely beneficial.

i've cut it out completely, i wash my hair once or twice a fortnight with t-gel plus (has salicylic acid also) and my scalp is good. have been using the 2% nizoral lotion for just over a month now, no irritation from that yet.

admin i think the reason most people use 2% is because thats the concentration which was used in studies. most notably the one comparing 2% ketoconazoale to 2% minoxidil.

And 1% version is not available everywhere (atleast not here in Finland)
I've bought 2% nizoral shampoo about 3 weeks ago but I'm scared to use it cauze I just survived from bad finasteride-shed and everything is starting to look good now and I'm going to meet a girl I like ~3 weeks from now on so I don't want to look too bald :hairy:

Edit : I thought about it again and tried it  that felt pretty good on the scalp :freaked2: but my right eye didn't like it much (gosh that hurt :D)
what's that talk about "keep it 10min on your head" is about? the package said 3-5mins?
