I think I could handle going bald much better if I could just have something to adjust to. I often feel like hair loss would be far less horrible if it could just happen over night. You wake up the next day bald. Sure it would be traumatic at first. But I feel whenever I have a big shed I get upset for a few weeks/month or so and then i kinda start getting use to it and feel a bit more confident with myself. But in the back of my head I know its going to just keep happening.

I mean how can a person feel confident with what they look like if there body does not even give them time to find that confidence in themselves! Its like even at the best possible situation its just a processes of building yourself back up only to be torn back down again a few weeks later when more hair starts falling out!

A little mellow dramatic don't you think? I mean I know hair loss makes me value myself far less, makes me feel like i can't be the young person that I am anymore, or even appear attractive to people. But on the big scale there are far worse things that could happen to all of us. Hell maybe we could have a crazy person kidnap us as children and cut off our dicks. or you know cancer or something...

I mean hair loss certainly feels like the worst thing in the world, and maybe for one aspect of our lives it really is, but things could always be worse!

cancer has been discussed before in this subforum with relation to male pattern baldness. I think the general agreement was that male pattern baldness is worse. with cancer you're seen as strong and noble, whereas with balding you're seen as weak and ugly. With cancer you go bald and it's not your fault, but male pattern baldness is simply your feeble, poor quality genes. People with cancer get sympathy and support, Norwooders are ridiculed and ostracised..etc..

(not necessarily my view)

Seriously? People on here think having a terminal illness is BETTER situation. If you have cancer you may DIE. Thats worse then losing an arm! Which is way worse then losing hair!

Losing an arm is not worse than losing hair. Being disfigured is worse than missing an arm. There are studies about that.

I hate that argument, but I'd rather loose a finger than my hair!

i'd stress that non existance is better than being bald, that's my view personally. however, i believe severe physical suffering induced by cancer or some other serious disease is worse than male pattern baldness. i got really sick this christmas and thought i had some illness which later turned out to be food poisoning. it was horrible and during those moments i forgot about my male pattern baldness worries. if the people here who think otherwise got seriously sick they would eat their words.
cancer is probably better under the condition that it gets diagnosed and succesfully treated in the early stages, otherwise you're in for some hellish suffering. (not saying that male pattern baldness wont give you that but still). it's not the dying that's worse, it's the agony.

Wow, that's a pretty hardcore stance. I like my hair and all and think about it often, but I sure as sht would prefer to be bald than have cancer.

Being a guitarist, I'd much rather lose hair than a finger. Unless a toe counts?

A few years ago I had an inner ear condition that caused me to feel sick and nauseous 24/7 for a year and a half straight. It was a complete hell and male pattern baldness is absolutely nothing in comparison. And no thanks to a cancer in early stages. You never know if you're fully cured and whether it will come back and when.

I can tell you have not been here long.

hah, ok I will get into this game too. I will admit if I could sacrifice a small toe for a life long full head of hair I would do it without a thought, MAYBE a finger, but that I would have to think about.

couple of years ago somebody posted a link to a cancer sufferes forum where they all agreed that their hair falling out on chemo was the worst side effect lol

obviously a few of them were women but there were a few guys too, was a depressing read for baldies.

it's the worst affliction in the world. Welcome to hell :kaputt:

How funny? I think its like a bandaid. You just want it to be pulled off, quick, and fast. You could go on askmen.com and try different hairstyles that compliment you hairloss. If its too far gone, shave it off like Style, and be done with it. Ever since accutane my hair hasn't seemed healthy. I have odd shedding but not like before. I seen pics online of hair loss. I got slight receeding. I am ok. I'll style it untill I shave it.

having a filthy dick isn't a requirement for a fulfilled life.

females don't have those and yet manage to do just fine. now take away hair and they'd be miserable.

A sex change might be suitable for you. Just get on loads of oral spironolactone or flutamide.

Think about it:
- you wil retain your hair
- you will not be short any more
- you won't have a filthy dick lol
