So Axon Dr. Marty Sawaya talks out of her arse and dutasteride is crap? is that what you are saying.

The test studies for dutasteride lasting 6 months are all good then and prove what regrowth dutasteride can achieve.

Axon have you ever told a person in your life that they need to stay on finasteride for a year to see how well they respond.

Axon does dutasteride start to work in the body faster than finasteride?

Axon 2.5mg is a good loading dose for the first 2 weeks on dutasteride then switch to 0.5mg.

Axon dutasteride is a powerful drug but the side effects are not that much more than finasteride.

Axon
Think before you condescend.
People and something about glass houses and throwing of stones and all that.

Axon, HARD ON FOR, FDA  maybe that's why not many people have tried it. It's just not on your big three list is it.

Well Bob if it ain't broke don't try en fix it lol!!!!!

What exactly are the long-term effects people are worried about? Wouldn't all side effects go away after a few months of going off the pill, like with finasteride?

Also for those worried: has anyone considered trying dutasteride for a year, then back to finasteride and so forth, just so the effect on your body is lessened? I'm considering trying it again for a year just to experiment with any regrowth I might get.

The half life is longer.

Long-term effects? I doubt it. As you've stated, your body will return to normal.

It's one person who had an exceptional experience. Finasteride has this as well. I'd count myself among them.

As well as it's limitations in comparison to Fina, which is what this is all about.

No, I don't buy into that line of thinking, given that I saw some results at 3 months.

Don't know.

Do you think you'd get the same results as the 2.5mg dose? It's interesting to think about, but I do not.

They're both powerful drugs. The half-life of Duta gives me pause, but otherwise, I agree.

I return only in kind.

Not at this point, no. I don't see what my opinion of the drug has to do with other people using it. I rarely comment on it. And with the exception of the moderators and a few users, there's little love for the FDA round the hair loss community.

Well Bob if it ain't broke don't try en fix it lol!!!!!

Exactly.

your personal response to a drug does not in any way dictate how others will react to it. some will see results soon, some late.

The Propecia product insert advises waiting 3 - 6 months to see results from Propecia. The BMJ recommended waiting 12 months.

BTW what's all this about no-one taking dutasteride? There are loads of users on here - me, JayMan, CCS, AussieAvodart, Roki, Aplunk... check the dutasteride forum! Obviously there are fewer dutasteride users than finasteride, because it's not licensed for male pattern baldness and is a b**ch to obtain, unless you're happy with a generic off the net.

And yes it IS better than finasteride. Not MASSIVELY better, but that's a relative term.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm going to add my reasons for not using dutasteride anyway.

Basically, for me, the main obstacle preventing me from using Dutasteride is the price of the genuine stuff, and for the generics bought off the internet, the fear that they may be fake.

The fear of side-effects isn't even close to being a factor. I just wish dutasteride was easier and cheaper to get your hands on. :( Maybe once it has passed its phase 3 trials in South Korea (and it will), it will become more widely available and more competatively priced.

Until my male pattern baldness becomes very aggressive and I'm forced to take drastic measures, I'm going to have to stick to the cheaper Proscar.
