Could someone enlighten me about the company that was developping RU58841 and suddenly decided to drop it ? Why did they chose so ?

For a drug that's showing promising results mainly proven by the community online it deserves to be more recognized and properly documented (data on effectivness, long term sides...) i find it a little bit suspecious how things tuned out for its development, for the least we know about this drug it could cause blood cancer on the long term (5years) and there is no way of knowing it. Sorry but i'm just spreading my toughts, can anyone give me some infos in regards about the history/future of this drug ?

Probably due to it's short shelf live and possible side effects (e.g., the people complaining about chest pain on it).

It's been discussed here before by @Swoop and others.

They believed that the profits from the drug would be low, so they did not bother with phase III trials.

yes, but sides effect never stopped a drug from making it to market, neither the price.

Concerning the price i think a one month home made RU solution cost around 20% more than foam minoxidil and around the same price as finasterid, imagine if a company is commercialising on a big scale it's certainly will drop the price even more, so i don't think that the price was the real issue here.
The most logical reason i see is i think there's something odd with this drug seeing the way they stopped everything at a promising stage of the study, can't find much "formal" information about it except users speculations. thus the reason why i'm asking if there's something we need to know about it.
@Afro_Vacancy Can you direct me to the thread previously discussing this ?

You can send a PM to Swoop. He has discussed it previously, he posted some corporate reports on the issue.

Basically, the estimated profit for this drug was expected to be low, that's why they dropped it.

It does contrast to the present day when a lot of hair loss drugs are being developed. That may be because society is more vain, society is older, there's growth in emerging markets, finasteride and minoxidil are no longer as respected, or maybe the original corporate analysis was just an misguided anomaly.

Keep in mind that for a drug to be approved in a lot of international markets, the clinical trials have to demonstrate that the new drug is superior to the current drugs. There was no evidence from those trials that RU was a superior drug, it was only a comparable drug.

You seem to have a great knowledge about it. So in terms of sides, do we know what it could cost on the long run ? I mean 5 years+

There's no doubt that RU can be effective. But the shady part and where it's still foggy for me is that we don't know what it could cause, if the sides were similar and well documented on the long run as it's the case for finaterid i guess it would be alright tand easier to decide giving it a try

There's no official knowledge on long-term side effects. The studies that were done lasted 1 year. Personally, I am not planning to take RU for 5+ years, and I'm also taking a modest dose of RU.

@IdealForehead has a good understanding of the science.

Watch his other videos they are truly comedic. Either he is paying those girls to hook up with him or he is hitting on some very very drunk girls.

There's no doubt that RU can be effective ... don't know what it could cause

FWIW I got severe skin dryness after trying RU 7.5% 2x/day. No noticeable side effects at 1x/day.

It was pretty bad... skin on hands was turning hard, like crusty and some red spots were appearing - not sure if some sort of rash or just due to the dryness. Lips were cracking and bleeding for seemingly no reason too.

2x/day did seem to work better but totally not worth it for the tiny boost in growth. Who knows what else it was doing to the body? I'm gonna do some more thorough research into the safety of androgen receptor antagonists and post it all on here when I have time.

Because it doesnt work + they patent was only available for 7 years i think and in that time they had to do phase 3 trials + commercialization
