Well the only thing I am noticing from taking Proscar in 1.25 mg is a itchy scalp. I am using Nizoral 1% every 3 days. I here a lot of talk of Folligen. Did some reading on it and wondering if it will help with the itching or should I just increase uses of Nizoral. The itching is not to bad just more noticeable before I started the Proscar

Here is my regimen if it helps any

1) Proscar 5mg and dividing into 4ths for 1.25mg a day
2) Using Rogaine 5% morning and night on receding hairline
3) Shampoo and Conditioner is green colored "Thicker, Fuller Hair"
4) Using Nizoral Anti Inflammatory Shampoo 3 times a week

Hi:
I'm from Montreal and my english is not that good, sorry for the mistakes...I also bought Proscar and divided it into 4 pieces...Well, the problem is that the damn pill has an irregular shape and it's hard to cut. I'm scared the dose might change everyday...What are the consequences of it? What about my hormones? Is it gonna work?

Thanx

Don't even worry about getting a imprecise dose. Virtually every dose of Finasteride above .5mg reduces serum DHT by 65+%. The range of inhibition between a .5mg dose and a 1.25mg dose is so minimal as to be irrelevant to you.

My scalp has been very itchy lately but I believe it to be from the nizoral not the propecia....

I would try using a shampoo other than nizoral before assuming that it is the finasteride. Try T Gel Every 3 days for 2-3 weeks instead of nizoral. A lot of people find Nizoral too harsh for their scalp.

I have a doctor friend who precribed me Proscar, and told me that it anything over .5mg will work. So you could cut the tablet into 10 parts and still have a working solution. Now cutting that tablet into 10 parts would be something else, but 30 tables would take you 300 days at a fraction of the price then the 1mg tabs or propecia, what a rip.
Anyway, i cut mine into 5ths or 6ths if i can, still 30 tabs by 5 is 150days still saving awhole lotta $ this way.
moral to the story, have your doctor prescribe you proscar. hahha

Its still advised that you use 1mg daily if you want to duplicate the effect of the Clinical Trial and shoot for that 83% chance of results. Going down to 0.5mg does affect that, although not by much.

At 1mg, for example, you might or might not be one of the 17 people out of 100 that see zero results.

At 0.5mg, it could be argued that number goes up to about 25 people out of 100. I personally saw no results at 0.5mg while I was a great responder at 1mg. If your goal is to optimize your chances of results, stick to 1mg daily with Nizoral shampoo every 3 days.

It can, and this is partially why an anti-inflammatory/anti-dandruff shampoo was used alongside Propecia in the FDA trials.
