Will Minoxidil 5% make my hair thinner?

I just want to know if anyone experience the followings:

I am using Min 5% for more than a month and I noticed that all the areas I applied the Min become thinner (scaple can be seem)... mainly temples areas and crown. (I am a diffuse thinner so I put the Min all over my scaple), Should I stop using it? or should I continue to use it for 4 months as stated in the instructions?

If someone has the same experience, will the thinning areas regrow hairs?

Thanks

Stick with it. Give it six months and don't make ANY judgements about it until you reach that six month point. That's Gardener's stand.

I hope that Min is doing its work...and I am experience the shed (thining) from using it now.....

But I guess, I dont' have any choice since it is the only FDA approved drug to regrowth, right? I consider Propecia is for DHT blocking.

Rsx, If you were looking for a topical medication that would grow your hair back in 1 month then minoxidil is not it.

Minoxidil may take 4 months to even notice a difference.

Look at this graph, between the middle of May and the start of July this persons hair count has fallen or become thinner, now look at the whole picture, over 15 months the general trend is more encouraging.

Let the medication work for 6-12 months

The progress you make, if you are a good responder will not be linear.

Rsx,

I know you are worried. I was in a similar situation when I started minoxidil. I was in the midst of a serious male pattern baldness event.. shedding, severe itching, I was seriously losing some hair.

Taking the minoxidil is the best thing you can do to counter the thinning you are encountering. But, it takes a bit more time. When a hair falls out, it takes about 3 months before the new hair that replaces it grows long enough to poke its head out from the scalp skin. By taking minoxidil now, you are making sure that the new hairs that will replace the ones being shed RIGHT NOW will be Minoxidil-enhanced, provided you are a responder, which the rather vast majority of men are for 5% minoxidil.

Trust. Patience. Ride this out. Do nothing and the male pattern baldness continues. Take minoxidil now and you are using the treatment BEST proven to provide regrowth of lost hair.

Peace and Patience, my friend. Gard

Tyran, I have concerns about your graphs.
They show minoxidel results to increase over a year. When Ive seen graphs from studys that show it peaks between 3-6 months with a large and sudden drop after the 6 month mark losing close to 50 percent of the results. Your graphs all show a steady increase? are you sugar coating it?

No, it is completely made up!

It is an example to illustrate that focusing on a short term result (like minoxidil over a month) does not, generally, represent the long term result.

This graph is not ment to represent any real data (obviously!! )

If it's fake then why didn't you make it more realistic?

SHow us the same type of graph based off real data....and thank you, that's awesome. Still encouraging.

And what does Jack 2 mean by this? Is he refering to a 6 month shed that is recovered from later?

As for regrowth, do u actually feel the little hair coming out of the scalp, or is the whole process pretty natural....

The sick hairs fall out and you'll experience some initial shedding or thinning which can last a while, don't lose hope, chances are your hair will turn out much better than it would have without meds at the one year mark :) Just think about that, and try to keep your mind off male pattern baldness. You're doing al you can so no point in worrying. Stress will only make hairless worse!

However say after you reach that six months, and youMre not seeing any results so you decide to stop, would your hair be worse from what you had started or better? Sorry I'm new to this too

Yes it will be wurse. The haur minoxidil have shed will grow back thinner. So you will never go back to baseline.

It's simple. When you shed hair and have male pattern baldness it will grow back thinner until there is no growth anymore frol the follikel.

So if you stop menoxidil, it will make things alot worse. Maybe it grows back if the hair is strong enough, but thinner.

It will also make you bald alittle faster. 1 shed faster let us say.

Sorry for the bad news, happened to everyone that shed hair from minoxidil and stopped using it.
If you keep using it, maybe it grows back the same of alittle thicker.

They say you go back to the state you were before you started minoxidil if you stopped.
And that maybe be true, but theye don't say the hair will be thinner. You maybe have the same amount, yes bit not as thick like before you started.

It's posion. Don't use it if you have male pattern baldness!!
