Will minoxidil/Rogaine shed healthy hairs?

Hi guys

I am considering using Rogaine foam and would like to ask a few questions to seasoned users of the product.

I have heard about the shed that comes with Rogaine use. I plan to apply to my temples and hairline. My hair is thinning and falling out there quite a lot. My hair at the central point of my hairline seems stable, off to the sides its weak

The main question I have is when I apply Rogaine and it comes into contact with those strong hairs will it cause them to shed too or does it only shed and regrow weak hair that would have gone anyway?

Also how bad are the sheds? I have my hair quite long to cover forehead scar and am very worried about having this exposed for months due to the Rogaine shed.

what is healthy hair? the only so called permanent zones are above the neck and ears. the strong healthy hairs you have now may not be so in a few years time. minoxidil can shed a lot of hair wherever you apply it, but everyone is different. each hair growth cycle will be affected as well as growing new hairs-hopefully!

I think its a good question by ts

I have always wondered if applying minoxidil killed my existing hair line or was it just from natural male pattern baldness...

I had alot more hairs at my hair line but over the years with rogain foam/minoxidil my hair line went worser if anything.

Guess after 5 years, there would be no real way to confirm if it was minoxidil or not.... again no way to tell if going on the treatment would have been better or worser.

What a wonderful world of hair loss we live in :)

Well if you weren't on finasteride that it's male pattern baldness and not the minoxidil, minoxidil is usless without finasteride
