Will New Hair Therapies Ever Reach The U.s.

Decades ago, in the late nineties, the U.S. was the pioneer in baldness medications. First there was two percent Minoxidil (a future flop, but it inspired other medications!).

Then in 1997 Finasteride was FDA approved for hair loss. A definite step in the right direction.

Currently I have to experiment with topical dosages of Finasteride, Minoxidil, and other medications that
are scripted by a medical doctor. What that means is by law, they have to have the ingredients they are supposed to have (although I wouldn't really know if they didn't).

Therapies like Histogen are not really pushing in the U.S. And as far as Mexico, I haven't heard any news about them. And that is something I was really looking forward to, in 2016.

Now we're at 2017.

Does anybody think the U.S. will ever have leading technologies in the next fifty years?

I think it's safe to say hair loss will be cured in the next fifty years. The US are obviously not the front runner but if a cure comes out it should become widespread in the US within like 5 years. Money speeds things up and there's a lot of money to be made here.
Anyone know if Trump has sped up laws concerning stem cell therapies?

Good question.

Really don't know.

Believe it or not, in the U.S., there was a time when we could get high Minoxidil/Finasteride (topical)
concentrations on Amazon! It was 2012, I believe.

After that, it was only 5%, and Lipogaine (DHT inhibitor). Now even Lipogaine cannot be sold online.

Don't think he will do anything, but who knows?

That's pretty recent. Didn't know finasteride was approved just in 97 either.
Here's a little story. I noticed I was balding in the fall of 2014 after a buzzcut (early onset but slow). Soon I decided to learn everything I can about androgenetic alopecia, to the point of being aspie about it. I followed hlc2020, read articles, lurked here etc. The more I read about the subject from a biochemical perspective the more complex it seemed. Then there was this post on hlc2020 about the new jak inhibitors, with a guy named matt making some interesting points on why they could work. Some time later a 2nd guy came in, doubted matt and trashed jak inhibitors. He said Androgenetic Alopecia is so complex that stopping it will be very difficult and after a point there's no turning back. Having read into the confusing mess of Androgenetic Alopecia, I thought he's most likely right so I stopped researching further and put my hopes into replicel until Tsuji came along, I joined here for the interview and soon came the biology broscience research on my part which kind of hit a wall soon cause there's so much you can find about mesenchymal and epithelial stem cells, so now I mostly visit this forum. Btw that guy trashing jaks in hlc2020 was Swoop :D .
The point I'm making is a drug won't save us. It's cloning and gene therapy we need. Even androgen receptor blockers have problems.
The fda has been slower than a snail on these two, especially for cosmetic treatments I suppose. If things don't change be prepared to get your *** to Japan unless you can afford to wait.
Then again, Tsuji plans to expand through automation, so perhaps it will be super expensive and only in Japan at first and then rapidly expand worldwide as the machines bring the cost down. They'll still need trials tho so the US better adopt Japan-like regulations fast :p

So true, the FDA has been slower than a horse wagon on this.

Not only that, but I believe it is the DEA or FDA that blocks access to concentrated
Minoxidil/topical anti DHT solutions. And it was completely legal in 2012.

The sad thing is, before Japan got a hold of it, it was going to be marketed in Canada. I think
they sold the rights to Japan.

And I think the same holds true for Histogen. It seems like they are getting ready for
a coorperate buy out.

They are really dragging their feet on this. Even in Mexico.

Isn't replicel still releasing in Canada? Shiseido is just taking advantage of the new laws. I don't expect anything from Histogen personally (just my instinct) but I have hopes for replicel and at least we know it will reach the market. Whether it works.. Who knows.
What is great about this situation is that we know so much more about stem cells than we did 15 years ago. They've solved the dp inductivity problem haven't they? There's only so many dark corners for Androgenetic Alopecia to hide

You're so right.

Histogen isn't really that new. It was discussed in some detail in 2011.

Why they are waiting this long, who knows. Maybe there scared of their competition (Japan).

We'll find out in 2020. Actually, Japan said it would be later than that. They have
scientific issues they are currently trying to overcome.

Well, hold on to your blood pressure monitor... Unfortunately, it's been delayed.

They currently won't give a release date. They said it was due to scientific obstacles.

Btw @rclark I just posted a study from 2013 on epithelial stem cell culture (Tsuji's biggest problem). Haven't read it through and don't know how much you'll understand but you can check it out. It's late here so I gotta bail. Get back on me ok? :)

Most likely, the next 'new' therapy approved by the FDA will be dutasteride. Things are bleak here and everywhere.

Ya you must be talking about shiseido I believe because I've heard nowhere of Tsuji saying anything really after the follow up interview comment where he said they are on schedule for 2020 still.

I am very dissapointed with histogen. They were my number one hope the last five years. A treatment that offers no loss of libido, doesnt give me mental anxiety or fatigue and no facial wrinkles or bloating and heart palpitations. So dissapointed in histogen. Histogen and Gail, you were going to change my life. You let me down.

Thats exactly the way I feel.

They really messed up with their timeline. They pumped people up in 2011, than recently.

Now, it's like they disappeared off the radar. I really don't think they're going to be out soon.

I'm sorry but which delays are you guys referring to? As far as I know, Shiseido is still on track for a 2018 release.
