Will night time sleep aid react with finasteride?

I'm planning on taking a night time sleep aid w/ Diphenhydramine HCl 25mg(each caplet) and was wondering if it could cause problems w/ finasteride b/c one of the things on the back of the box say to ask a doctor before you use if you have trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate. I don't have an enlarged prostate, but since I take a drug that is supposed to deal w/ that type of problem it has me a little worried. So anyone out there know?

It depends what your "sleep aid" is at the moment. There are more than a handful of them with many of them having different mechanisms of action. If it's over-the-counter, then we need to know the exact name. Otherwise, if it's a drug like Zolpidem, then the effects of that drug will be increased as both finasteride and zolpidem are metabolized by the cytochrome p450 3A4 enzyme in the liver.

I take Diphenhydramine (Benedryl) almost daily for allergies and sometimes as a sleep aid and my Doctor says it's ok to take with finasteride.

I currently abuse diphenhydramine and it is the prime suspect of rapid thinning of normally thick hair. I am going to post a before after pic/discussion on my propossed resolve. I just started tonight so "after" pics arnt in, it will be a cliff hanger. I would do it now but this sight said I would be restricted for a bit to stop solicitation.
