Will propecia + nizoral work

Or do I need to use minoxidil too?

I have been losing hair for about 4 years now, my hair is really really thin now and I wanted to try this before my hair gets worse. I am 25 and started losing hair early. I started on my first pack of propecia on Friday and have so far not noticed any side effects. I also use Nizoral shampoo. I can't really afford to buy all 3 products and I wondered if propecia alone will make a difference. thanks

sure man, quite a few people have had success on here without minoxidil. here's a recent example. it might not be as dramatic as some of the guys who use min, and it almost definitely won't be as fast. but yeah man, it's a pretty good idea to start taking finasteride and minoxidil about a year apart so you can tell which one is helping you.

I think the most important thing is that you take finasteride. Ther other two can help but the finasteride is essential.

finasteride by itself can give pretty amazing results; and for many people this is enough. Put your money on finasteride, and then add on minoxidil later if you feel the need.

doing finasteride & nizoral (1%) right now myself. if after 6 months i dont see any growth, i'm gonna add minoxidil.

less drugs at once means you can monitor which ones are working vs. which ones are unnecessary. also helps identify where you're side effects are stemming from.

You might need a little more time than 6 months for finasteride to start working.

Sure, you have the success stories, where amazing growth occurs in like three months on the big three, but for most guys, it takes up to a year for any treatment to work.

For me; propecia worked like this: after 4-5 months I was no longer shedding.
At about 12 months small signs of regrowth, signs of thickening.
15 months: evident thickening, a little more regrowth, baby hairs at temples
18 months: regrowth evident, thickening of a few baby hairs.

One study showed that finasteride's effect actually peaks at 2 years. So be patient.

i find this post very inspiring..as I am almost about to lose confidence on finasteride due to reported sides in other forums...a bit scared.....

Fear of side effects is likely to produce said side effects :whistle:

But seriously: don't worry. Take the pill, watch your hair regrow and get on with your life (I still have the all hair I had when I was 20. Now I'm 26.).

And IF you get side effects, stop the meds, and everything will be just fine.
