Its hard to say if its common as nobody has access to the whole sample size of people who are using it
Many people do come here to complain about finasteride (ive also had sides but stopped soon after i quit fina) but the people who do not have sides are probably not on these forums as they are living their lives with a full set of hair, so how can we say if its 'common'
Ive also had sides with minoxidil but that was when I started microneedling, before then it was fine
It is worth trying cus if you do have sides, then 99.9% of the time it will stop once you quit
If you start finasteride, make sure you microdose first, so take 0.25mg eod (every other day) at first and you may be one of the lucky ones who maintain with this dose, if this does not work then keeping adding to your dose (0.5mg eod if still not working then... 0.75mg eod... 1mg eod, 1mg everyday) do not go above 1mg everyday as the side effects are more likely to start happening here
Oh and do not put finasteride around any pregnant women
