My wife and I were passing through the Atlanta airport yesterday and I have never seen so many bald or very balding dudes. Nearly all the European guys I saw and heard were. Middle Easterners were even more.

God I wonder if hair loss has been increasing over the years. Maybe there is some studies =o

Countries I've been in the last years ranked by my impression of the % of balding men

1.USA
2.England
3.Scotland
4.Poland
5.Germany
6.Mexico
7.Chile
8.China(currently)

Must be a bunch of factors such as ethnic differences and diet.

I live in GA and honestly don't see many. Being in a couple of intl airports really illuminated how common it is. From what I saw, if you are Pak/Indian, it's just a matter of time. Crazy diffusing on fairly young dudes.

Kind of weird especially since testosterone levels have been dropping. Makes you wonder???

More body hair, more DHT, it's not a factor if your follicles are resistance to it but if you have the genes that cause miniaturization it's a give, my brother is a lot less hairier than me and he doesn't have any hair loss, makes me mad just thinking about it because body hair caused me many self esteem issues.

I'm basically hairless, but I'm NW5 at 24. No relation.

You follicles are just more sensible to it, see any old man with a NW1 chances are he's not hairy, if you're hairy prepare for balding sometime in the future. You got unlucky.

I tend to agree with this. Im not SUPER hairy but hairy enough. I see alot of hairy bald guys. Makes me wonder if were descended from neanderthals or something.

People on finasteride and dutasteride report less body hair, specially the latter, I'm not that hairy either but the hairs are super long and thick to the point that they get stuck on my shirt. I think in a lot of cases more body hair triggers less hair, causation or not it sure happens to a lot of people, maybe the same genes are triggered, maybe it's that ramp in DHT that kicks the follicles into miniaturizing.

Will finasteride make me hairy?

When I was on finasteride my body hair areas I would shave actually seemed like they were getting thinner upon each regrowth. Quite wierd. But again some trans people will use finasteride as hormone therapy so it does make sense.

Maybe less body hair does mean less DHT. To compensate for less androgens in the body maybe the receptor sites are more sensitive to androgens. But if the receptor sites are more sensitive they would also grow body hair. Anyone care to throw out some ideas. I also wonder if there is a correlation between people with less body hair getting more side effects. Kind of funny my oldest brother has little body hair but no hair loss. Middle brother and I have a lot of body hair with hair loss.
