Every drug has a bazillion side effects that it can cause, including death. They have to write it all so they can never be sued. If you read what the side effect could be for birth control, it's a list like the spironolactone except it covers practically everything. So us women must be headed to the death bed soon because of this! :woot:

Being healthy/without disease and the potassium thing are the things docs say. As with ALL rxs, you should make sure they can mix ok--- not just spironolactone but everything as well as alcohol and even smoking if you want to get down to it.

Also oral spironolactone HAS helped many women a lot, so it could stand to say that it could help males especially those who have female pattern hair loss. If we didn't see many success stories from oral spironolactone, many of us wouldn't try it. It seems women are more hesitant to take meds for hair loss than men- from reading all the boards. More men jump to it whereas women tend to be more hesitant and scared.

I understand what your saying. And also you may need to change birth control because my gals list does not look like that. :)

But were talking about men self medicating with this dangerous drug for hair loss. I don't think you can even begin to compare the two.
