yeah I wrote Dr Lee and he said that once a day may give good results but should really do twice to ensure--cause thats where data is. So I am thinkin once at night once mornin, or maybe once 5% and once 15%--cant decide--I wrote him again to ask LOL He must hate my guts for questions :hairy:

I wouldn't worry about asking him questions. I asked him like 100 questions already and i've only been a patient of his for under 1 month :lol:

I've been using Xandrox for 8 months. Only at night because it is greasy and sticky. I'd say results are fair to partly cloudy...

I have been using Xandrox 15 for 5days.

Yeah, Xandrox15 is extremely sticky and as Gardener says, it never dryes.I use it just in the evening. I could not be with Xandrox 15 at work. My head has been shaved and the sticky Xandrox is pretty visible there.

However Dr.Lee on his site says that you can even shampoo your scalp after one hour after aplication of Xandrox 15, so I just wash my head with water after one hour.

In the morning I use Lees regular quick drying minoxidil. I will drop finasteride soon and add Fluridil instead of it. I do not want to play the hormones game any more. Off course I use nizoral too.

This is quite big change in regimen.I hope I will see more significant results thank on just regular minoxidil, finasteride and nizoral.

Stonecold, you asked about the possibility of using Xandrox 15 twice a day, and possible side effects.

Well, as someone stated here, Xandrox 15 is a powerful drug. I've been ordering various concoctions from Dr Lee for a while and Xandrox 15 is the only one where he sends a supplemental information sheet along with the sh*t.

As for the sides, I have had no noticeable changes to heart rate, etc. The main side effect I have received from minoxidil is the enhancement of facial and body hair. It was very noticeable, and very obvious, after I started minoxidil. Do you know those hairs on the back of your neck, below your normal hair, but above your back.. those hairs that the barber normally shaves off when you get a haircut? Well, before minoxidil I never worried about those hairs. The barber would shave them off and they never became all that long or noticeable. Well, when I started minoxidil, they started growing thicker and longer, and curlier! I have to shave them down half way between haircuts to keep from looking like a primate and I am not exaggerating one bit. It was like night and day. Additionally, my beard grows a little faster, and my sideburns are thicker too.

Xandrox 15 exacerbated these side effects. The back of my neck is fully engulfed in pubic-like hair that I had to shave down every week. Luckily, my body hair below the neck seems unaffected, thank God. That is the only noticeable side effect I saw.

Thanx bro--that was funny as hell. Not bad as far as side effects go. I am very confused though..I have bought xandrox 15 and xandrox5----I dont know what to do. I have been takin the 15(started with once at night for a week) twice a day for maybe a week. I think I should maybe use 5once and 15 once but I keep thinkin of the potential benefit of 15 twice--but the 1ml dose? It seems like thats not enough to cover the scalp and Dr Lee says it doesnt matter because it all absorbs into the dermis.I sort of just put drops throughout and focus drops on "trouble" spot and rub in fingers--am i doin this right--do I need to part my hair all through scalp and drop in? He says use just for male pattern baldness areas, but I have a few thin areas, I figure if Im gonna do this may as well do drops throughout the scalp...HELP HOW DO I APPLY THIS FRIGGIN REGIMEN/DOSES to? :freaked2:

You could shave you head man!

I have shaved my head and now 0,5ml is enough and I can cover all my balding head twice with topicals:)

Also I do not check my situation everyday. I will give it few months and then I will let the hait grow again to see the results.

Also it is more easier to wash the Xandrox15 off having shaved head:)

Hi, just skimmed through this thread so may have missed a few points but I not convinced from what I have read that *on paper* xandrox is any more beneficial than bog standard rogaine.

1) there is no in vivo evidence for azelaic acid;
2) azelaic acid does not reduce sebum production (*);
3) 3ml of minoxidil is equivalent to 1ml of Xandrox 15%

Conclusion: Xandrox 15% is superior in terms of cost and economy, but that is all.

Any thoughts?

"Clinical and laboratory studies on treatment with 20% azelaic acid cream for acne"

Cunliffe WJ, Holland KT.

Department of Dermatology, Leeds General Infirmary, Yorkshire, England.

In a series of investigations using 20% azelaic acid cream as a therapy for acne, it was found that the treatment, compared with its placebo, significantly reduced inflamed lesions after 1 month and non-inflamed lesions after 2 months. No changes in sebum excretion rate occurred, but a significant reduction, 15.9 to 10.5%, of free fatty acids of skin surface lipid was detected after 1 month. The follicular Micrococaceae density was significantly reduced after 1 month, and after 2 months there was a significant reduction in follicular Propionibacterium spp density. The final reductions were 2,500 and 44 fold, respectively.

Q. Why not apply 3mL of the 5% Xandrox instead of using Xandrox15?

A. The amount of minoxidil in 3mL of 5% Xandrox is the same as the amount of minoxidil in 1mL of Xandrox15. However, in terms of absorption and efficacy, you are much better served by the use of Xandrox15 because (1) the 80% alcohol base of the Xandrox15 allows for significantly greater delivery of minoxidil to the follicles where it is needed; (2) With better patient compliance, your chances of reversing hair loss is improved and there is certainly better patient compliance in applying 1 mL of Xandrox15 than there would be in applying 1 mL of 5% Xandrox 3x/day; (3) the cost of 3 mL of 5% Xandrox is more than 1 mL of Xandrox15; and most importantly (4), there is a threshold level at which atrophied hair follicles will respond to minoxidil to produce a terminal hair shaft again. A 15% minoxidil solution is much more likely to recruit hair follicles to grow again than is a 5% minoxidil solution to do so.

In regards to the second active ingredient, most of the total amount of azelaic acid (150mg) in 3mL of 5% Xandrox would be wasted. 50mg of azelaic acid, which is the amount of azelaic acid in 1mL of Xandrox15, is more than sufficient to effectively inhibit DHT synthesis in the scalp

There is no proof that 1ml of 15% minoxidil will grow more hair than
3ml of 5% minoxidil. The other points he makes relate to economics.

I think he even admits that. However, it's a lot easier to apply 1 ml than 3 ml. I think that's the only reason to use Xandrox 15.

Agreed,

LOL its like sunblock, yeah you can prolly put on 10 layers of SPF 4 spread out over time to acheive the SPF 40 you are looking for, but why not just buy the SPF 40 and get it over with in one shot, i am not a specialist when it comes to SPF, so i am probably wrong about 10 layers = 40 SPF, but you get the point

I agree that there might not be any medical proof of the benefit of 15% xandrox over 5% minoxidil. However, this does not mean that xandrox is a rip off, it means that xandrox 15% might give additional benefit to some over and above 5% minoxidil, and for others it might not have any additional benefit.

Personally, the 15% xandrox DID inspire some noticeable changes to my regrowth pattern when I tried it. It might work for some, not work for others. But, for people who don't have an acceptable response to 5% minoxidil, I do think it is something worth trying. You only know if it will work for you or not if you give it try?

There's another somewhat more subtle issue here which is being overlooked, and that's the difference in vehicles used in these products: they all contain ethyl alcohol, but Xandrox 15 also uses glycerin, whereas regular Xandrox and Rogaine use PPG (propylene glycol) as an additional solvent. According to the Merck Index, PPG "penetrates through the skin better than glycerin", so I think it's questionable even to _assume_ that Xandrox 15 would be better at stimulating hairgrowth, just because of the higher concentration of minoxidil. I'd have to see an actual clinical trial that compared both vehicles, before I could really believe it.

True, Bryan, but I believe that alcohol is supposed to be a much better solvent than PPG. Considering that Xandrox 15 has a higher alcohol content than Rogaine, might this not counteract glycerin's sluggishness in absorbtion?
