Hi.

I am currently using the greasy shitty Rogaine minoxidil solution on my head. I apply in the morning and at night. My morning application is preventing me from gelling my hair or having any aesthetic styling! So... I understand that product #500 (standard Minoxidil 5%) is less greasy. I will more than likely purchase this...

BUT...

What about this Xandrox 15. 3 x stronger than the Extra strength 5%. Is this stuff dangerous??? The Rogaine data sheet warns against the side effects of the 5%. I don't have any side effects from my Rogaine but for the first minute of application I feel my scalp stimulated... Like an increase in blood circulation.

It is my plan to use Xandrox 15 at night and standard Minoxidil 5% in the morning. I need advice on this. Has anyone tried this? Will the 15% Xandrox cause massive shedding???

It all seems rather confucing. I just need people to comment who have tried these product combinations in their regimens..

I look forward to a reply....

using the same shitty greasy rogaine :) and have just ordered the non-greasy stuff from dr. lee yesterday. I cannot give you a good opinion as I have not used the xandrox and have only been on the minoxidil for about 6 weeks.

But I would say, depending on how long you have been on minoxidil, I would stick with the regular 5% twice a day for a while before you switch anything. Now if you have been using rogaine for over a year then maybe its ok to switch.

Either way I am sure some of the more knowledgeable guys can give you some advice but if you have only been on the 5%rogaine for a short time I would wait a while before switching to something different.

Buy Dr Lee's standard 5% minoxidil (product 500) for your morning applications. It dries in 10 minutes.

The 15% Xandrox is super greasy syrup and never really completely drys. I am also dubious of it's superiority over normal 5% minoxidil.

Search for Gardener's Product Review on Xandrox 15.

Here's what i do - I use only Dr Lee's 5%. I have to get otu of bed for work at 8am, so i set my alarm for 7am. Get up at 7am was my face and apply my minoxidil in the bathroom - have some cereal.

Go back to bed until 8am. Wash body and style my hair (don't wash your hair though). Go to work.

Get home from work at 5.30pm, apply some more minoxidil to my hairline and temples.

Do whatever - for the rest of the evening.

Around 11.00pm - have shower and wash hair etc. Then apply minoxidil again.

Go to bed around midnight.

Obviously these times vary slightly and occasionally I will have to miss the 5.30pm minoxidil application if I am busy after work etc.

This 3 times a day technique means I am consistently applying minoxidil roughly every 8 hours. Which in terms of a 24 hour day is the most regular dosage possible.

Yes... I too was rather dubious of the Xandrox 15%... That stuff seems too powerful and there are no "real" safety tests for long term usage...

I have been on Propecia for 9 month and Rogaine for 7 months. I have had enough of that greasy sh*t. It flakes the skin and causes mild itching. It clumps the hair together too... That causes areas to appear thinner. Crap... full stop!

I will search for the post about the 15% Xandrox...

I would like to know more about product 500... Has that maintained good hairgrowth? Did you switch from Rogaine to Dr Lee's? What about that Kirkland stuff? That seems to have the same properties (percentage wise... Propecia, alc, water) as Rogaine...

I guess I am still quite new to the hairloss experience. I am a NW2 and 25. I am about to switch from Propecia to Finnpecia. After research on this forum it seems good enough to do so.

Now all I need is the best minoxidil that people reccomend :)

minoxidil is minoxidil is minoxidil man.

It's just the absorption vehicle that differs in Dr Lee's products thus reducing it's drying time. The only reason Rogaine et al takes so f*****g long to dry is because of the high amount of PPG in it, which is only in it to increase its shelf life to several years so they can maximise sales profits by reducing wastage.

Dr Lee's product 500 drys in 10 minutes(probably less).

It is actually 5.5% minoxidil so slightly stronger and you also get 65mls instead of Rogaine/Kirkland's 50mls - so it lasts longer.

The active ingredient is the same in all brands of minoxidil, so results hould not really differ.

Ease of use is the key issue here rather than effectiveness.

Thanks for the info... I understand your point. It's just good to hear these things from senior posters.... Thanks...

If anyone else has info on 12.5% minoxidil or the 15% minoxidil... please post... I read Gardener's review... Excellent...

I am just interested in other opinions and results?

Is the 12.5% solution better to apply... almost the same etc....?

xandrox 15 is powerful

Finglish,
In my experience, xandrox 15 works. My hair line has comedown (NW2 to NW1) in the temples after using xandrox 15. I use xandrox 5 in the morning and xandrox 15 in the evening. I have lot of vellous hairs in the front after approximately 9 months of this. I will be posting my experience in post your story section.

What kind of cereal do you eat? and is there any type of cereal that helps with male pattern baldness?

Finglish,

Been using Xandrox 15% for 7 months on my temple and frontal. Initially, noticed shedding on the frontal area. Till now, I have not see any improvement. It maybe because it is harder to regrow hair on the forntal and temple area.. am not sure. I am looking into adding finasteride into my regime.

Hope it helps.

Oh.. did not come upon any side effects.

Do you guys remember the old Batman cereal from 10 years ago or so? That stuff was amazing ...

Hi guys!

C´mon, don´t get confused and astonished by the cyphers next to a name!!!!

Couldn´t they be a marketing strategy?

I am finishing chemistry college, so i don´t pretend to be easy-speaking here.

15%, 5%, 12,5%, 60%... just shows the amount of active stuff over the entire volume, so is exactly the same pouring on your melon 3 ml of 5% minoxidil than 1 ml minoxidil 15%, so it is just a matter of volume, and money (if you put 3 ml of 5% you´ll run out of min faster than 1ml of 15%).

But if the Xandrox 15% Ultra Strenght have another ingredient that makes it so good, I don´t know, but on about minoxidil that´s the story, it haven´t got any extra power or nothing, just more stuff, like if you guys buy a larger bottle of regular rogaine.

Well, knowing that, i´ll still be getting the "Matthew Macghaavenveney ultra strenght minoxidil 5%" if existing. That´s what marketing has done to me.

I bought the 12.5% xanadrox lotion... while it is "stronger" than the %5 i think the main selling point is that it easier/faster to apply a lotion at and past the hairline than it is to apply the liquid there (because the liquid runs off). It causes a temporary warmth/flushing, likely due to the azelaic acid (which may or may not help, no real studies). It is easy to apply, and will probably last a long time at the rate I use it, but whether it is worth the extra expense is up for question.

I think before I renew it i will search to see if there is a generic minoxidil lotion (with or without extra ingredients) available.

I started using both Xandrox 15% in the morning, & Fincar about a year ago when my hair line & crown areas started thinning after about 9 years of Minoxidil 5% use. I’d say I’m happy with the results. Now how much either the Xandrox 15 or fincar figured into play I really don’t know. But my gut feeling says it’s better then Minoxidil 5%

Proscar Lucky Charms is what I tuck into in the morning.

Just empty a packet of proscar into your box of Lucky Charms - impossible to tell the difference.

It's a great way to stop your kids going bald without them knowing.
