Yet another reality check

Owning a nice car, for the most part, is a representation of how wealthy you are, and a lot of the time a high status is also assumed.

I know a handful of people personally between the age of 20-25 that have loans on their cars in excess of 30-40k. Their monthly payments are VERY expensive and the payment terms are even worse, some of them being 8 years long.

Now you have to ask yourself, why would these people put themselves so far in debt for a nice car if society didn't care ?

JZA70, I think that guy you are talking too is just some kid. He has alot of growing up to do. What you said is true. Status is everything these days. I remember when I was 27 and met with some friends from highschool who I havent seen in 10 years and guess what? "What car are you driving these days?" "What do you do for a living." I drive a car I bought brand new in 2001 for 31k, it only has 32k mileage on it right now on it too so its still somewhat new in the mechanical age, but when it comes to the year, its old as ****. Its 2014 and Im driving around in a car from 2001 and im losing my hair. I hate my life.

I am 41. I have had a Porsche of some kind for over 10 years. No one cares and I am happy about that. What you both are talking about is 20 somethings that believe a nice car accomplishes something. Society just doesn't care. They have their own issues.

I don't get where you're going with this..

The ones that mind don't matter and the ones that matter don't mind.

The problem is dealing with all the people who do mind. All the people who treat us baldies like second class citizens. It is not absolute but it is a persistent problem. If people didn't care then they wouldn't bother to go out of their way to make me feel inferior and uncomfortable. People laugh at me in public. It's humiliating! How would these sanctimonious ones react to such a reality? Burry their head in the sands of De Nile? Probably but I can't do that. I know what I see. I know what it means. But what can I do? I am a victim of circumstance... of genetics... of a society that loathes my kind.

Losing hair sucks. But in all the articles and interviews I saw about Steve Jobs I never saw a thing about him and his loss of hair. In truth its like having a nice car. People just don't care. I honestly think I only care about my own because I have always worn it long and you can't do that if its thinning.

You can, it's called a comb back and I've seen it done before but you have to be a crown balder. I think people judge you far more by your appearance than what kind of car you drive. When I see some old douche in a lambo I think Oh look an old douche with money. Loosing your hair hits you on such a more profound level than any ****ing car, jetpack, submarine I don't give a **** could. Imagine a huge demographic of people suddenly being prejudice against you. It's a terrible thing to be socially alienated. Being bald is like having a scarlet letter but instead of an A it's a B! Hair for the most part goes a long way in making you look normal. Something you take for granted, until you loose it.

I have an M6. Great car. I'm happily married though, so it doesn't matter:)
If you do get one, people WILL notice you.
