Meanwhile, I discovered that I threw out my finasteride, so I cut the tips off 4 .5mg dutasteride tablets and squeezed the contents into a 60ml bottle of minoxidil. Maybe that will do some good.

5 Fincar tablets are 5 x 5 mg = a total of 25 mg of finasteride.
50 mL of liquid is (approximately) 50 x 1,000 = 50,000 mg.
Therefore, 25 / 50,000 = 0.0005 = 0.05%, just like he said.

hi guys!
Interesting topic. I'm new in this forum, been on finasteride for nearly 4 months and some annoying sides came up
.
I made a 0,02% topical solution on my own crushing 12 x 1mg pills and putting them into my regular minoxidil. Not sure, but I feel like sides are starting to come back. I'll see if it's just my imagination.
BTW, I'm really interested to know whether this really works for any of you

Wow, cool study,... It does make sense, if flutimide works topically why not finasteride.
But it also makes you think, if topical finasteride is good,.. why not topical dutas???
Dutasteride blocks enzyme ARI in the skin and sebaceceous glands, as well as blocking enzyme ARII in the hair follicle. It works mostly to block DHT in the skin. I think topical dutas might be a good idea, would have less side effects because it wont be taken internally.

I wont be surprised if they just work by systematic absorption and sadly I think that is how the majority of these topicals are working.
I know for a fact with my body is extremely sensitive to dutasteride. Putting topical dutasteride on my head and different dosages created sides within a week same as if taking orally.

BACKGROUND: Finasteride, a type II-selective 5alpha-reductase inhibitor, as a causative agent of decreasing dihydroxy testosterone (DHT) level, is effective in the treatment of male androgenic alopecia. AIM: We compared the local and oral finasteride in the treatment of androgenic alopecia. METHOD: This is a double blind, randomized clinical trial study of 45 male patients, who were referred with alopecia to the private clinics and departments in Boo-Ali Sina Hospital, in Sari. Patients with male androgenic alopecia were selected according to the history and physical examinations. The patients were randomly divided into two: topical finasteride (A) and oral finasteride (B) groups. Topical finasteride group (A) received a topical gel of 1% finasteride and placebo tablets, while the oral finasteride group (B) received finasteride tablets (1 mg) and gel base (without drug) as placebo for 6 months. The patients were followed by clinical observation and recording of side effects prior to the treatment and at the end of first week, and then by a monthly follow-up. The size of bald area, total hair count, and terminal hair were studied. Data were analyzed by descriptive and Chi-square statistical test. RESULTS: The mean duration of hair loss was 18.8+/-23.10 months. Each month the terminal hair, size of bald area and hair count between the two groups were compared. There were no significant differences between the two groups as a viewpoint of hair thickness, hair counts and the size of bald area. Serial measurements indicated a significant increase in hair counts and terminal hair counts between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study showed that the therapeutic effects of both finasteride gel and finasteride tablet were relatively similar to each other.

dutasteride is not suitable as a topical because of its long serum half life.
For a topical we want something that acts locally and then quickly breaks down in blood into components that don't produce side effects.
Topical dutasteride builds up in blood over time and side effects might appear once the concentration reaches oral administration levels.
In this regard, finasteride due to its much shorter half life, is far more appropriate.

Does anyone think there will be a conflict if I mix finasteride and flutamide together? I have a two 80mL bottles of flutamate already mixed with 50% alcohol and 20% PPG. I want to mix 2 5mg Fincar's with them since I apply 0.5mL twice a day.
Does anyone think there will be an interaction between the Finasteride and the Flutamide?

I had to quit using my topical finasteride, because I started getting bad headaches and a lightheaded feeling.
I seemed to be responding. There were some vellus hairs forming on parts of my temples.
Very frustrating. I had a similar experience with topical spironolactone: excellent results but I got terrible headaches and had to quit.

Hey just saw this.
The 1:1 weight/volume ratio is for water. Your mixing the pills in minoxidil which i think is mostly (about 70%?) alcohol. Alchol has relative density of about 0.8 meaning it weighs less then water so your concentration would be slightly higher, though not by much (depending on that percentage of alchol) but its probably about 0.06% for what its worth.

Ive been thinking about purchasing topical spironolactone for a while. I already use minnox 7% every evening and nizoral shampoo. I had to stop taking proscar tablets due to bad side effects. im having a rapid fall out of hair at the moment. i know i need to add an antiandrogen or dht inhibitor.
im worried that as im applying the minnox every night, i will not have time to apply the topical spironolactone and wont work if i apply together? anyone got any experience or suggestions with this?
also, if i purchase revivogen i will have the same problem? and as i got bad side effects on proscar tablets, is it likely i will get similar sides on a topical dht inhibitor?
i do have about 2 boxes of 5mg proscar tablets after i stopped using them. would it be a good idea to add one to my 7% minoxidil? or will i just get the side effects again?
pleas let me know your thoughts, or any other products that might benefit me, very much appreciated. thanks

You might want to look into copper peptides they may enhance the performance of minoxidil by healing the skin on your scalp. I use them in proucts such as hair signals and folligen.
