You guys must stop misinforming people about Propecia!

I got nothing against you folks here you are very helpful but there seems to be a pervasive problem here you guys keep mentioning about Propecia. Many of you say that Propecia will only maintain hair and Rogaine will grow hair! That's total BS. Sure Rogaine can help maintain hair as well and even grow hair and thicken them but it's usually just a little in that department only maybe like 15% of people have good regrowth/thickening from Rogaine. When it comes to Propecia IT'S FAR MORE EFFECTIVE THEN ROGAINE IN ALL WAYS and that includes maintaining, regrowth and thickening of miniaturized hairs!

I would agree if you haven't lost an amount that makes your hairloss cosmetically noticable.

I don't know about others, but i definitely see regrowth after using finasteride for a little less than a year. I am 23 now btw.

Well of course I didn't say that Propecia can grow back lots of hair only rarely but in effectiveness it's a lot more stronger then minoxidil!

I agree , actually I'm not going to use rogaine ever. To much hassle for such little improvement. Finasteride is a lot more effective and easier to use. Pity about the side effects I got. For those who don't get side effects , Fiansteride is a god send.

Be careful - Mew will accuse you of being in the pay of Merck.

I don't know why you guys are denying it but when you combine minoxidil and finasteride, you go way above baseline than say with finasteride alone.

Of course a combo treatment should be better but not always. finasteride is like the army to battle your hair loss but minoxidil may just act like a shield to the game but then again that shield isn't very strong. But of course if you can put up with the hassle of Rogaine do it! I wouldn't stop you ever! But remember one thing...it's a commitment forever, Propecia too but taking a pill a day is wayyyyy easier and hell a lot more effective in treatment so you're getting a 2 in 1 bargain!

finasteride is a lifelong committment too if you want to keep your hair. I don't think minoxidil is that much of a hassle if you know how to apply it. Plus with the foam it sounds much like a godsend than putting in the liquid stuff that takes forever to dry, can irritate your scalp, and makes your hair look like you haven't showered in days.

True but still very annoying to apply it would only be worth it if you could get great results but in most cases that ain't the case. finasteride is also a lifelong thing but hey popping one pill everyday anytime you want isn't bad at all.

Yep, you are absolutely right. I use them both, but finasteride is my number 1 hair loss drug.

Well, it's not that much of a hassle. A couple of drops in the morning, a couple of drops before going to sleep and that's it.

I was also told this by a hair transplant doctor... he lost me as a patient due to his
very good advise.

That's probably a bit of an exaggeration. The experiments with stumptailed macaques seem to indicate that the effects of using finasteride and minoxidil together are merely additive.

A combo treatment is better then finasteride alone but too go way above baseline with Rogaine on top with Propecia is really an exaggeration! Propecia is a weapon to battle hair loss while Rogaine may just act be an extra accessory to the weapon that's all.

That "graph" (I use the term loosely) was put together with input from me on topical minoxidil's putative "offset of growth" characteristic, and it does a good job of portraying that visually! :)

This graph is totally wrong. It shows that minoxidil would give you higher hair count then finasteride don't make me laugh! And the combo treatment graph is too exaggerated!
