On my birthday 26th of March:

Girl,21 years old, at the club: So, why do not have any hair? are you sick or something? (you know, with that very noticable and negative undertone)

I didnt let her ruin my night though (which was the first time I went clubbing in more than 2 months).

So what did I say? Interesting that you are mentioning that. I was about to ask you the same, regarding your tits.

Oh man, it felt so f*****g good saying that to her. You should have seen her face reaction.

Some may say it was a very immature response, but you see, eveytime Ive gone out Ive always been a bit worried to get comments about my lack of hair and now when I finally decided to go out and they arrive, ON MY BIRTHDAY, I will take out the chainsaw. Did she deserve it? HELL YEAH!

I did a similar thing recently. Met an old friend who was always into heavy drinking, partying at High School but stayed thin. Roll on the best part of nearly ten years and he's got a huge beer belly and not looking particuarly well at all. "What happened to your hair?" with the same smirk like in School.
"What happened to you? My hair's gone but wow you are fat and your face looks blotchy"
Yeah, it was probably immature but these people like the Woman who said that to superfrankie, they deserve to be brought back down a peg.

:bravo:

She deserved to be shown no quarter.

Some people would say that you should just rise above it but to me that's BS. Why should men with hairloss be expected to take any negative comments that come their way on the chin? It's a crock of sh*t! If people think my balding is something that is fair game to be ridiculed then they should not be surprised when I make a comment on one of their own deficiencies.

Maybe next time if some girl asks you "why do you not have any hair?", you could say something like:

"Well I'd love to explain the the concept of androgenic alopecia to you but by that gormless, vaccant expression on your face I very much doubt your two brain cells would be capable of processing such information you dumb f***!"

Anway, glad you never let it ruin your birthday celebrations mate and I hope you had a good one. :punk:

OK, I'll be the one to say :thumbdown2: to superfrankie.
It seems what the girl said was not out of malice, what superfrankie did was.

Should we be mean towards people who are just ignorant?

If someone is making fun of you, go for the jugular; but if someone is just saying what they feel out of ignorance...I mean it still hurts (I know all too well), but we should not be mean.

She was probably too drunk to know what she was saying anyway. She deserved it. No one wants to just let a bad bald joke slide without a comeback

The thing is, I normally let them pass but there comes a time when it is a degradation to your own self-respect if you dont hit back. Its like being bullied, you can take some comments but eventually its too much and you hit back. My purpose with hitting back has also much to do with providing them with a valuable lesson, to really think about what they were saying. I hope some of them have som kind of self-insight.

In my own experience, the comments/questions I recieve, if they have that very noticable negative undertone, I hit back, I mean, they ASK FOR IT literally. Im not going to just stand there and get humiliated. f*** no!

For example: When a guy I havent seen in years stumble across me and says "what has happened to you"? with that "holy-sh*t-I-cant-believe-what-Im-seeing" look, then I hit back, very often with comments regarding their bad shape)

When it comes to the girl`s face expression: I dont think she was drunk. I didnt get that impression of her which makes it even worse. All I can say is that after giving her the comeback she had a stone face, you know that, "I cant believe you just said that" look. Well, payback`s a b**ch.

After hitting back I really got a boost in confidence. I felt my self-respect grow a lot after that incident. Standing up for yourself is never a bad thing. And what made me feel extra nice was that it was a pretty cute girl. I dont know about the countries you all live in but here in Sweden most women think that they are under protection (like a flower) and can get away with everything, just because they`re cute. Well ladies, think again.

I would not call that standing up for yourself. If she was making fun of you, or putting you down, then yes, hit back. But its sad if hurting dumb people makes you feel good about yourself. You are stooping to the level of people who make fun of bald/fat/whatever people to make themselves feel better.

She seems like a moron. If a mentally retarded person asks you about your hair loss, would you make fun of their condition in retaliation? Is your self worth THAT low?

Attack is the best defense. Moron status does not allow her to say anything she wants as well as any other status. I can't understand why somebody has to suffer all this sh*t without hitting back just to stay polite...

Why stay polite, its not what they asked for or deserved in the first place. Being polite is strictly conditional. I wouldnt go as far as hitting back at mentally handicapped people (like autism or cerebral palsy), but the overall moron-types are not included. These people have no excuse.

Its pretty hard to always get the question "what has happened to your hair?" eventually, when meeting girls. The majority are just curious and ask politely and that`s fine but deep down I feel a little less human regardless. Its pretty hard to get into a social interaction and almost always get a question like that eventually. I believe that is why I tend to alienate myself from new people, but the conclusion is still that Im not strong enough to cope with it in every situation.

I dont know imagine if someone said that to Vin Diesel/Kelly Slater ect and they went into attack mode about it they'd look like insecure b****s, if they just laughed it off everyone would think that they were cool and the person who asked it was a douche.

I wonder how this question may come to someone's mind. "What has happened to your hair?" What answer did she expect to get from you? Is she from another planet and sees a bald person for the first time in her life? It could be partly explained in case she was your old friend who remembered you hairy and even then it would be a dumb question...
