young guys with success

All, I've seen in several places that those noticing male pattern baldness at a younger age tend to have a more aggressive case of male pattern baldness. I, being 22 (almost 23), have noticed male pattern baldness setting in over the last few months and was wondering how many of you young guys have seen success with maintaining and/or regrowing any hair. My hair has just recently started to thin and isn't that noticeable, so I'm hoping that propecia/nizoral (my current regimen) will help me maintain and possibly regrow some. Let the positive posts begin!

What do u mean by agressive case of male pattern baldness?...the rate, and severity of male pattern baldness is controlled by your genetics...it does mean if u start to get male pattern baldness early u will go totally bald fast...for u may remain a Norwood 2 now, 10 years later its still a NW2....or u may or not become totally bald....

which is why hair transplant are not recommended for young patients with NW1,2 for their future severity of male pattern baldness is hard to predict...

I'm 19 and think I understand what hes saying. In my case, you can really tell the difference on a month to month basis. A lot of older people can take 10-15 years to go from a NW1 to something like a 6-7. But younger people it seems like this is knocked down to 2-5 years.

from personal experience...I would have to disagree. The rate I was balding at, i thought I'd be a cue ball at 24. The medication has made it much better, but even before that it slowed down quite considerably. I will be a Norwood 6, ive always known that...but im glad I made it this far with the amoutnof hair I have now. I never thought i would. You just never kow, and you certainly cant dwell on it.

Best of luck

well my dad starting balding at roughly the same time i did.....and then littearlly just stopped when he was like 25 or so, and has SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY lost a little more and he is 55 now and i'd say if he had a transplant of like 3500 grafts he would have a full head of hair and excellent coverage, if it was sculpted to be an N1-N2, so i think thats my fate in the end, but i think with the things im on now i can have halt of the loss my dad did for many years and then when im like 30's i can have a transplant thats basically my long time run

been on the propecia/nizoral kick since 2002 (about when i turned 21) when a 2nd dosage of accutance accellerated my male pattern baldness to where i'm a norwood 1.5 ish. it is 3+ years later and still a 1.5 and have had no side effects or further hair loss. Same goes for my brother who started a year after me. No hair regrowth but i didn't expect any in my temples to regrow. Turned one of my friends who had just started (about 3-5 months) diffuse hair loss onto propecia and in about 9 mo to a year is back to a full head of hair. These are all stories of people 21-24 who have had success and no side effects.

PS. dad is completely bald as is my friend's father

I started balding at the age of 19 and had thought I will be cue ball by 24.

Today at the age of 24 I am Norwood 2.5

Have recently started with Finasteride.

I've been balding since the age of I would say 17 (thinning, I am currently 25). I started using dutasteride along with Xandrox15 in the morning and minoxidil at night for the last 9 months. I also use Nizoral every second day. I have seen significant improvement in my hairline and at the crown, also my hair overall is thicker. I have been shaving my head balled (mach 3) for the last 5 years. Only recently have I been confident enough to grow out hair. I now shave it with an electric razor and gradually have been shaving at longer settings.

If I do let it currently grow out, I believe it would be much easier to tell of my hair loss, but things have improved greatly and I hope to be growing out more hair in the near future. I don't know if I'll ever have a full head of hair (although I am a thinner so it's hard to tell when my hair is shaved short), but I must say I am pleased with the results so far. I can even go as far as saying if my improvement was to stop at this point, I could live with just maintaining what I currently have (although I must say it would be very nice to grow a decently thick head of hair). I haven't had my hair cut by a professional in like 6 years.

damn 1979...your story is almost the same as mine! I dont remember the last time I got a professional haircut. I dont have to mach my head, but i do shave it at the lowest setting (at least I used to.) I used to be able to go 1 week and then have to shave ahain because the sides were so much thicker than the top. Lately, i can go 3 weeks and I look good in what used to be the "shitty mirror." Let me know if anything works, doesnt work or whatever. Thanks!

Yeah i know what you mean by the shitty mirror... they are all over the place. One mirror your looking good, and the next your half bald. I hate those shitty mirrors.

The strange thing Withthelidoff is that there was another poster who had started a seperate thread explaining his story and it sounded exactly like ours.

Also, I shave the side of my head slightly shorter than the top. If you're not already trying that, it gains you the longer hair without the top looking thinner than the sides.

hahaha..yup..i've been trying that scam for almost 2 years. god, I hope people dont think of me as a combover person ( i dont hink so though.) Anyways..the treatments been working so good. I work in an elementary school and sometimes the kids draw pictures of me for me, as I am usually bald in them it can get very depressing. i recently grew my hair out for 3 weeks and one of them drew a picture..and ,,GASP,,,,it was of ME ..and it had a full head of hair!!!!!
** Man! the things I get excited about..i need a life BAD **
