Yeah, I was worried about something like that. I did increase it to about 3-4 times per week and have noticed no problems.
Is there anything else I can do to combat dry scalp?
Thanks for any help.
I started using finasteride about 2.5 years ago. Shortly after I start using nizoral shampoo about two times per week and regular shampoo on the other days.
The problem is, while I did get some results from finasteride and my losses seem to have stopped, by scalp is extremely dry. I'm thinking about using nizoral...
30 years old. I've been taking finasteride for 1.5 years and have had good results. My hair started thinning years back, but I have thick hair and it is still in very good shape. My hope with finasteride was to keep it where it was or improve it a bit.
My doctor gave me proscar and actually told me to go...
I started taking proscar March 1, 2005. I'm nearing the one year mark and thought I'd give you guys an update.
I'm 29 years old. I've slowly thinned over several years. It's primarily in the back. There are no pure bald spots back there - just thinness. People notice it only if they are...
Weird how every doctor is different. My doctor actually prescribed proscar right off the bat - before I even asked. I started to ask him about propecia and he knew of it, but had never prescribed it.
Agreed that I'll take gray over no hair. I've been on proscar since March 1st. A few months ago a noticed a single gray hair on my head. Actually, I think it was a colorless hair (no pigment or whatever). I yanked it and haven't seen any since.
I have been on proscar (1.25mg / day) since March 1 and I haven't seen a shed yet. But I don't look at my hair closely enough to really be able to tell one way or the other. I just know I'm thinning and I hope proscar can hold it off for a while.
Effective how? Mine cuts it into four equal sizes w/no breakage. Occasionally a few specs will break off, but considering I'm cutting into 1.25mg (avg) when I only want 1mg, I don't mind that. Just get a good pill cutter and you'll be fine.
Why the reluctance to just cut? A nice pill cutter cost me $4.00 at Walmart. Cheaper ones were available as well. I just cut into 1/4. Only on month 3 but I have had no sides.
I use Derm sparingly (a few times a week at best) and don't worry about 'being busted'. My hair isn't all that thin and depending on how I brush it, it can be difficult to tell I'm thinning even w/o Derm. As for coloring, my hair is a dirty brown color anyway - I was blonde as a child and...
I'm in the two month club also; actually entering the third month now. So far ZERO sides. Of course, I'm not the a*** type and I don't inspect my hair daily. But I definitely noticed no shed of any sort. I use nizoral twice a week and haven't had any dry scalp issues either.
As for results...
Bugs me a little, but it does not consume me. I would like to improve it, but it's not that bad anyway. I hope proscar will thicken up my thinning in the back. If not, I'll get hair transplant. Dermatch makes it perfect in the meantime - I don't use it everyday. Just on dates!
