Finasteride is more for maintaining/keeping your hair rather than regrowth, but the good news is you’ve started very early. I’d personally throw in some minoxidil, even once a day helps a lot and you might see regrowth

I tried minoxidil for about 2 weeks (I know poor decision). But I came to the conclusion that if I have to do that sh*t 1-2 times a day, Id rather just shave. So tedious, hair looks like sh*t after, headaches are common. Just not for me man, I dont knock anyone for using it though, sorta envious.

I appreicate the input, Niki99, Ollie and whatintheworld. Probably update this post at the 1.5yr mark.

Strange final question, however I haven't seen it on the forums yet; how important is it to really take finasteride at the same EXACT time everyday? By this I mean about 10% of the time I take it Id say its about 40min-1hr late from the exact time I took it. I don’t think this holds much importance?

Yeah dont worry about when you take it . As long as you're getting it every 24 hours you're good. finasteride has a half life of roughly 8 hours but its half life in certain tissues is much longer.

Why are you obsessed with me? It's difficult to tell in those pics, but I'd say NW2.

Apologies, didn’t know asking someone with “senior member” title implied I am obsessed. I tagged other experienced fellows in this aswell.

Difficult to tell from the original photos I posted initially or with the updated 2 photos I posted a few posts later or both?

The first pics. I didn't see the other. Yeah, I'd say you're borderline NW3, but not really there. More like a high NW2.

Edit: Your hairline looks sold though so you can get a small hair transplant if you're not happy with it and then you're good.

Yea facts, that’s what I was planning on doing. Im just 21, hopefully it stays similar by 24 then Ill go ahead and do it. 3 years just seems so mf long lool.

It does seem like it, but it will go by fast once you accept your fate, and hopefully see that the recession has stopped. Are you on finasteride?
Yup 17 days away from a full year. Ive already accepted it, its been killing me mentally for close to 2 years now. Wore hats 24/7 for the first year, said f*** it once I hopped on finasteride and just rock this sh*t. It feels like I have lost ground but I’m pretty sure it was my left side just catching up to my right side. We’ll see how things go the next 6 months. My scalp gets severe dandruff during the months of Dec-April, not even ketoconzole helps, like it does for 3 hrs after I shower but then its back to constant flaking itching and shedding.

The only reason I hopped on finasteride is bc my 60yr father has the same exact recession pattern as me hes just got diffused thinning in a NW7 pattern so I thought which only really diffused badly thru his 50’s. Hopefully my sh*t stays the same, probably going to book some consultations when Im nearly 23.

How is your mom's dad? Her brothers? That's more important than your dad's hair. It really doesn't look you have anything to worry about as long as your on finasteride, and most people aren't even going to notice your recession.
My mother doesn’t have any brothers but yea I have yet to see any male in my family over the age of 50 with decent hair. Although none of them are on finasteride, Im well aware of that.

You’re right though nobody really notices my recession besides people that are well aware that men go bald. My roommates nag on me every once in a while but no biggie, I know it could be way worse. Time will tell.

edit: obviously not many men have good hair past 50, so I retract that statement. Past 40*

Most men have hair loss past 40, so if they are holding off until 40 then I'd say you don't have to worry about severe loss. Just taking finasteride is probably going to be enough for you. You're lucky in a way because with severe Androgenetic Alopecia you can be on finasteride and still go bald in a year. For someone with even a decent family history, finasteride is amazing at preventing hair loss.

Well I would probably put my family on the more sh*t side of hair loss prone. Out of the 2 sisters from my mom side 1 sister has 2 sons one aged 34 with fine NW2.5 hair, the other 28 with thick NW2 hair. The other sister has 2 sons aswell, one bald as sh*t since age 23/24 the other at a NW4 age 32.

My father’s sister has 2 sons aswell both late twenties NW1 thick *** hair however their father (unrelated to me) is 60 with a full thick head of hair. Jealousy at its finest.

Whatever though, Ill take what I have. I am significantly more gifted academics wise than all of them haha.

Thought these pics were pretty close angle wise, decided to get an opinion. Keep in mind finasteride I started finasteride 5/10/19. Would you claim maintenance, or a little loss?

I think it has gotten better. Less wispy, fuller and recession seems to be a bit less also.

Yea, the before photo was taken with unwashed/shampoo hair so it was quite oily. The second was washed. I guess Im tweaking, I feel like styling my hair has gotten harder. But I havent had a good haircut in a while. I also thought it might have receded slightly more on the right side in the photos. Seeing sh*t.

Alright. I know you guys have said my hair is better but I think this shows a better comparison as both pics are taken with my hair unwashed. So the impact of “fullness”/shampoo doesnt take effect. Ive drawn arrows at regions where I think its gotten worse. Any comments?

It's really tough to see anything. To gauge small changes take macro photos of your temples.
Yea Im just conflicted because Im pretty certain its gotten worse (not way worse, barely any) but a lot of users saying better. Pictures dont really help much tbh

Hey. Was curious as to you’re opinions on my crown. I believe its always been pretty thin back there as I always remember being able to put the top of my index finger in there. 4 pics attached - 3 from today, one from 9 months ago.
