It looks like the front is thinning but that's because my hair was greasy/not washed. I'll take a photo later with my hair washed

The first stage is denial. Time to embrace reality pal.

Hey man, go on finasteride or you will regret it later. Genetic mean nothing in male pattern baldness and beard. My father can´t have decent beard now in his 50´s, but is thick nw3. I am nw3 and my beard is improving every month even after I started finasteride. Beard is not only about dht, but also about testosterone. Good on finasteride is, that it can also make your testosterone higher. Embrace the reality and fight it! If you get sides from finasteride, then you will stop taking it. Most sides from finasteride are psychological. Try big 3, but don´t expect miracles. Wish you good luck to be amazing responder.

You're NW3ish. You would have to see if your hair loss will stabilize on finasteride. Try it out for a year. If it is still progressing, hop on dutasteride. It's damn near impossible to continue losing on dutasteride.

Can stress be the cause of my hair loss? What about (yeah I know it's a bit ridiculous) masturbating too much?

Man.. I understand, that you are looking for some answers like: Yes, you don´t have male pattern baldness if you are stressed and masturbate too much. We all had...However, it is male pattern baldness. Accept it and buy finasteride, otherwise you will regret it later... If you read through some old topics on gourmetstylewellness.com you will find a lot of threads about hair loss and masturbating and guys who claim, that if you stop to masturbate, you hair will grow back. None of them successed. Stress can make you lose your hair, but you have typical male pattern baldness thinning and hair losing. Stop lying to yourself and accept it. Believe me. It is better to accept it and fight it, than losing more hair and regret it later. Last thing I can tell you is: Fight it or go bald!

I've already had a blood test. TSH and T4 were tested. They were both normal.

Do you have other ideas?

You do realize not everyone can grow facial hair right? For example most philipino men cannot grow any facial hair except a few pubes on their chin.

Your father will give you a good idea where you will end up facially.

Well my father started balding when he was 45. Also he can grow a beard, and it's a "big beard" like with facial hair everywhere. All men in my family are like that.

Hypothyroidism is very easy to diagnose and so i Male Pattern Baldness, which is what you have.

I know you want something else to be wrong with you, but it's simply just a case of genetics.

You said your father started balding when he was 45 and he has a big beard etc. Well guess what, I'm balding too and have since I was 16. My father is in his 60's and is a solid NW1. I can't grow a beard and my father can grow a badass beard.

You're not a clone of your father, you're a mixed product of your mom and dad and generations behind them. So to answer your question you're balding because you've inherited male pattern baldness which has triggered early and your lack of beard is because you're genetically programmed to either get no beard or to have it fill in later.

Go save your hair before you bald, I'll guess you're bald within 2-3 years if you're not taking any action.

Ok.

Another question : which haircut would you recommend with my hair (see photos here : http://imgur.com/a/VhYio) ?

If i were you i would start dutasteride asap, and order some rogaine foam to go along with some of that cheap toppik you get off ebay. It dissolves with the foam thus making your overall hair density thicker. You could just cut the sides a bit shorter and brush the forelock to one of the temples. People will notice your temples, but it will look better than a buzz imo.

In the end, you are going to be bald by 22. And if you don't wanna spend your youth as a balding dude, or a bald guy even with the buzz, then you should probably look into dutasteride, as i don't really think finasteride is going to do anything for you. Get some concealers, make the best of it, try to cope.

What about growth hormone deficiency? I read on wikipedia that it can cause baldness. It would also explain my short height (5'5).

m8 it's male pattern baldness that you inherited from your genes, not hormone deficiency.

Like head hair if facial hair or body hair is not genetically susceptible to androgens than it might not grow. Doesnt mean much you might have normal androgen levels or extra sensitive hair. Its still just male pattern baldness most likely. Get a hormone panel and see what your T and DHT levels are but regardless its still probably male pattern baldness and options as we know are limited.
I do think androgens cause facial hair and body hair, but again its genetics if that happens some men might not have facial hair growth even if in the presence of androgens. Women dont grow beards - its very dependent on androgens.

I've already been to a ton of doctors (2 general practitionners, 2 dermatologists, 1 endocrinologist). I can tell you nobody cares about a balding 19 year old who stopped growing when he was 14. Maybe if my parents had taken me to the doctor back then... but well they are morons and they didn't.

Anyway, I've had my thyroid tested (TSH T4 fine), my pituitary (LH FSH fine, ACTH PRL cortisol slightly elevated but my doctor said it was normal and probably due to stress, SHBG fine but near the upper limit) and testosterone fine but near the upper limit too. White and red blood count are fine too.

The doctors did not test for growth hormone though so I'm going back Tuesday to ask for a IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 test.
