Dude ive just been thinking the exact same thing. Ive been on Rogaine for around a year, intially i had terrific results, but just in the last few weeks hair has been non stop shedding and it looks worse than ever. I just don't understand it. It really is a roller coaster of emotions using all these meds. One week you feel like you have turned the corner and your finally getting on top of this hairloss thing, then BANG, suddenly your back at square one or even well below baseline which I believe I currently am.

Yeah i split proscar pills. Id hate to know what would happen if i went off Finasteride. I reckon id go NW5 or worse in under 6 months.

take a look at the post that i made below yours. Im in the exact same position. Responded fantastically, right around 2 year mark seemed to have lost all gains and went back to my pre-minoxidil hair state. Shaved it down, ill see when it grows back in in a few months the state its in.

perhaps its a synchronized shed and it will grow back..thats what im hoping for at least

Yeah! Thats EXACTLY what i did about 3 weeks ago. It was long and looked awesome, then within two weeks prior to my shave down I got massive sheds, like NEVER before. My hair was noticably thinner. I was really depressed and I came to the conclusion that my longer hair was getting in the way of my foam application. So I shaved it down to about a number 3 and decided to start from scratch again. Ive been so tempted to give up the Rogaine foam, but im scared to stop now. Im gonna try and ride it out one last time :(

Don't give up on it if you had noticeable gains from it.. I went through mini-sheds every 4 or 5 months on minoxidil but my hair was back to being awesome within 2 months or so...

but the 2 year mark shed...that was unreal. It had been so long since my hair felt like such sh*t, i was taken back to those days when i was miserable before i started the minoxidil.. I guess that tells me that minoxidil worked to thicken up my hair a lot during those 2 years.

Shaving is a good idea when you start to shed really bad. The stress starts to bring out obsessive behaviors like counting hairs every shower session or checking ur hair constantly. That cant be good for your well being...So i say shave it down so at the very least its not constantly on your mind...and hope by the time it grows back the shed is over and you've regrown most of it

lol so true jayb. You speak the truth. Ive been come very obsessive lately since my shed, looking the in the mirror constantly to see if my hair is ok etc. I mean that kinda s-hit is not healthy! Its so weird, because I went through about 5 months of no shedding, there wasnt even a single hair on my pillow. I think ive been over training lately. Ive noticed alot of hair is coming from the areas above my ears around my side burns. I will stick to the Rogaine. But it just gets so tiring, if things dont improve in the next couple of months again, im going to stop twice a day applications especially to my hairline. And I will just continue to apply it at night before bed. Im just tired of the smell and the shitty greasy look it gives my hair through out the day. what u reckon jayb?

I thought in the rogaine pampflet it said that rogaine looses effectiveness around the 2 year mark. meaning rogaine is only good for 2 years???
I understand this may not be true for every1 but if the manufacturers of rogaine state this it must be true for most people

hey metalheadude, I saw on an earlier post you said you use foam every day but sometimes only wash your hair like every couple days. Do you use and gel or hair spray? If so, do you think the foam will react negatively to it?

Yeah I wash my hair every 3-4 days. I use alot of hairspray and gel when im going out, but thats only after my morning application of Rogaine. I wait 4 hours first (which is what it says in the instructions before its fully absorbed) then I wash my hair, blow dry it, then add all my product, including a s-hit load of gel and hairspray, I also have toppik I use sometimes. Usually its caked on so thick that it would defintely effect the absorbtion of the Rogaine (when i got home after my night out to re-apply it) So after a night out, I usually re-wash my hair again then apply the Rogaine, so nothing messes with its absorbtion. I only go out out max once a week. So its really an issue. I only use product when i go out. what about you dogs3?

So do you think its fine to apply rogaine when there hairspray in there from hours earlier? Its kind of hard to understand because you use so much product but also say you wash you hair only every 3-4 days a week.

As for me, Ive only been on it for a couple days now and im trying to get the hang of things. So far i just apply it and like 5 minutes later add some product. At night though i dont really know what to do yet because i dont want to keep having to wash my hair every night just to apply the foam. Its a work in progress, i need to establish some sort of routine.

yeh! Its totally no problem to apply if you have a little hairspray in your hair. I totally wouldnt wash my hair everyday with the foam. Every second day washing would be perfect. Its not so much the hair spray because that just sticks to you hair. Its pretty much the gel. During the day ive found that gel tends to seep down onto the scalp giving it a thin coating of slime (if that makes sense) So a few times i tried to apply the Rogaine over that and realised it might effect its absorbtion. But if your scalp is dry and has none of this grimmy product stuff on it then its fine to apply. Sometimes i use a little gel and hairspray and Its fine to apply the Rogaine. Its just when i got out I add ALOT more product to make my hair look thicker, its those times u need to wash ur hair before applying it. I hope im making sense :(

yeah, definitely, i get you now. that makes me feel better about it because im starting to like the foam. I started off with the foam 3 weeks ago, but got a reaction (which was most likely caused by it getting into my eyes by carelessness). So i went with Dr. Lees stuff, which is fine but it takes too lond for me to apply and i have to be careful with that dropper not to drop it into my eyes like eyedrops haha. anyway I started the foam today and it dried so quickly ive decided to go with it. Just trying to get different opinions on things. Thanks for the tip.

Btw, I was also wondering, i dont know if you mentioned if you exercise or not but if you do, do you wash it out before hand, wear a sweatband or anything so it doesnt drip down your face? Or just wait awhile before going? Thanks
