About Follicles And Their Death

Hello guys,

I've been going bald since I was 17 and now I'm 27, I lost most of it.

No worries, I've always accepted my faith... But since a week or so, I'm starting to get a little in to the subject. Since most of you here are my partners in faith, I figured you guys could help me with some questions I have. I would appriciate it if you guys could help me out.

I want to know about hair follicles. When you are bald, are the follicles actually "gone" or are they like "asleep"? Are they actually not present anymore or are they just not growing hair? This piece of information seems to be hard to find on the internet. Some say the one thing, others the other thing. I hope somebody can clarify.

Since I started to look around on the webs, I noticed that all the information is somewhat contradicting. There is no consensus on anything.

But I read about blood flow, and that blood flow plays a part in balding. The theory was that DHT has a chance to accumulate in your scalp, because the blood flow is limited, and therefor you lose your hair. There is not enough blood to "wash away" the DHT.

I wanted to know how much of that is true. Some people swear by this theory, others say that it has been disproven since the early 90's. I wonder what you guys have to say about this. According to this theory, message of the scalp is helpful.

Hope you guys can tell me a little something about it and maybe post some links for me to look at.

Thanks in advance guys!

as far as i know the follicles don't die, it still technically grows hair but its so thin and miniaturized it doesn't even break the skin or if it does, its basically not susceptible to being seen by the human eye.

That is kind of good news... Because I think that as long as they are still there, there is hope for revival. Maybe not now, but in the future. Thanks for your response mate :p

Armando when you "hair lost" do you mean hair that has completely stopped coming out of the scalp and has disappeared? What about hair that is thinning and miniaturized but still growing?

With miniaturized hairs still exist hope

So if the hair is still growing but it has been thinner and/or miniaturized for longer than 30 months it cannot be reversed? My hair on top has thinned but it still grows as long as my non-thinning hair, but the thinned hair on top has been thin for longer than 30 months, I'm looking for the Propecia to make it thicker.

Your case is rare, normaly common baldness develope nude scalp zones due the lost of hair follicles,..., you say that all your hair is present but only miniaturized... strange....,

I've always wondered about the possibility of 'getting everything back' (even after a time) if treated, for example, with a heavy feminine regime such as those of transgender ones. What's the insight on this? Do these people get their hair back on such regimes?

Well hair is lost by miniaturizing over time, getting thinner(in hair shaft diameter) and shorter, until it can't be seen, then eventually doesn't come through the scalp. My hair is at the point where it's thinner, you can still see scalp if it's cut short and there's overhead lighting. I need to thicken this existing hair, rather than grow new hair, I figure this is the least I could ask for from treatment. When you mentioned the 30 month window to recover hair lost, did you mean hair lost as in it doesn't come through the scalp anymore? I figure you don't mean hair that is only thinner(in hair shaft diameter).

They regrow hair that has been lost for a long time, but I'm not sure about all of it or how thick it is.
