Advice On My Recession And Thinning

hello all,

27 year old here with temple recession and thinning at the front of my head, was really hoping for an analysis of my situation and advice going forward. noticed the temple recession about 1.5 years ago but it was only very slight then, the thinning at the front i would say has become more obvious over the past 6 months. i had the front cut shorter in order to try and sport some kind of french crop, it works.....just. but not for long. im not sure about all the technical terms as of yet but im sure there's a lot of 'miniaturization' going on.

all im really doing to prevent it getting worse at the moment is eating clean, training hard (i play football/do mma), occasionally get some coconut oil out the cupboard, MSM, i have the Groganics DHT blocker too. i know these are all futile really and the reality is that finasteride/minoxidil etc are the suitable weapons of choice. a hair transplant down the line is something i would strongly consider.

credit to all of you who support and guide users through their hair loss woes here, and i hope all of you are coping as best as you can with your hair loss issues.

look forward to hearing from some of you, if more/better pics are needed just ask and i can do it straight away. appreciate it, j

Sorry to say, but it is definitely male pattern baldness. The way your hair is thin in the frontal area is similar to my type of hair loss. You caught it somewhat early so you should get good results from medication (finasteride and minoxidil). Read up on finasteride and its sides from medical studies ONLY. Avoid reading random internet posts about how finasteride destroyed their life.

My advice: Start on finasteride for like a 3 months. If you don't notice any improvement then start using minoxidil. finasteride is much easier to use as it's just a pill and it attacks the main cause of hairloss.

hi there, thanks for the reply. no need to apologise haha..........deep down i had begun dealing with and accepting the fact that this was indeed male pattern baldness, was just keen on some opinions from those that know more!

i've read some scary things about finasteride but i am willing to give it a go, a decrease in libido would probably stop me from using Tinder so much so not necessarily a bad thing.......

.....another question. my finasteride will arrive on Monday so i plan to start taking 0.5 per day. for about 6 years now (im 27) ive had a hard lump under my left nipple, obviously aware that its gyno, but its really not noticeable, no girl has ever mentioned it and its only popped back into my mind now ive ordered these pills. will/could finasteride make it worse? i get how it would......any chance of some info before i start taking them? i plan to visit the doctor monday morning for their thoughts too.

thanks

Finasteride is pretty safe for most people. .5mg/day should be fine. If you're pre-disposed to gyno it can get worse on this drug because estrogen rises slightly. Would have to just start taking it and see what happens. If your gyno gets worse can always quit, things usually go back to normal then.

Finasteride and minoxidil ASAP or Norwood cemetery.
What? His hair isn't even bad lol....and hes 27. Better than over 25% of people his age. Would recommend finasteride, see how it goes, and then add in minoxidil if not happy with results.

Everyone risks the Norwood cemetery if they are not NW1 in their 60s like Jeff Bridges. Best to catch it early. That's just why I said ASAP because I wish someone had told me that sooner.

I think you shouldn't focus too much on the side effects. Just forget they exist. That way when they really happen, you'll know.

Temples look fine. Obvious diffuse thinning on top of scalp. Hop on finasteride and nizoral immediately in order to maintain hairline, and possibly thicken. Re asses after 6-8 months, if hair is still thin, then add Minoxidil to routine. Good luck and don't freak out over the shed you will most likely experience for the first 2-4 months or so.

START YOUNG, my friend. You will save yourself a lifetime of misery!

Otherwise, be ready to go bald. Early Treatment = Success. Late Treatment = FAILURE/FOLLICLE DEATH.

would you say my treatment still creeps into the 'early' territory'? ive noticed my hair loss for a while but i still have relatively solid coverage

@mrmrl

It's good that you recognize it at 27.

Based on my experience, bald places are extremely difficult to get back. You really have to aggressively treat them, and at a early time. By aggressive, I mean spironolactone or Progesterone, if you're already using Finasteride and that's not working.

I wish I could tell you something else, I really do.

Very, very slowly, as in My density on top is seventy percent (I treated it agressively for almost three years).

The parts that have been dead for decades (no terminal hair), remain dead. They're never coming
back to life, and unless Histogen comes out in the near future, I'm FUCKED!

You have terminal hair in the same area, and that definitely helps.

Based on my experience, I've been slowly gaining hair around my terminal existing hair.

in terms of 'terminal areas' my hair is not too bad, so lets see how the finasteride and nizoral go. im sure you've been asked before, but can i ask if you have experienced any side effects?
