Any Connection Between Hair Thinning And Thin/flexible Nails?

Its been about 2 months since ive clipped my toenails. They have not been growing fast. As i was clipping i noticed that they were bending and flexible. They also seemed thinner than normal. Used to be when i clipped it id almost get a crunch sound l. Now it was like clipping 2 stacked sheets of paper. So i looked at my nails. I chew them all the time but I had never really noticed how thin they were. I've seen people with some hard sharp thick nails before but mine feel like they would bend if I tried to use them to pry anything.
So then I started wondering if this has anything to do with my hair thinning increasingly faster over the past few months.
Im 42 now and i dont know if this age related or not. Ive seen older people with thick hard yellow tinted nails. They look cracked and brittle, but they dont flex like my do now.
Has anyone else noticed that lack of nail growth/being thin in conjunction with a period of hair shedding or thinning?

Nope my nails are as healthy as they get hard and flimsily just like the girls like them.

You might be one of the few people who could benefit from taking a look at nutritional deficiencies. male pattern baldness is not related to a nutritional deficiency, but hair thinning can be.

Hair thinning and nail problems can be a sign of iron deficiency. It might be worth taking a supplement in the short term to see if the problems clear up.

Yeah i looked today and saw that iron, zinc, biotin and a f*** ton of water are recommended. The water part is where ive really been missing out. There will be days when i have a coffee and one glass of water and thats basically it for my fluids, except a few sips from a water fountain here and there.

If you're male, taking iron without first getting blood test is bad idea. Increased ferritin levels contribute to cardiovascular disease. Most men are not iron deficient.

Nails - I have beautiful nails, like my mom did. Women have commented on them but they are flexible like plastic not thick, not thin and I have no systemic deficiencies. There seems to a large variation in nail characteristics likely driven by genetics.

So there may be no connection at all then, well damn. Was hoping to find more symptoms and pinpoint what was going on.
Im still going to jump on biotin and zinc, maybe not iron if itll cause my heart to explode.
