Anyone Continue To Completely Bald While Using Finasteride?

It does not work like that.

Dutasteride lowers your sperm count for one year. Finasteride does not.

My derm has only some individual patients on duta. Those who are sure they will not procreate for one year. You cannot have a 24 years old on duta.

Like you cannot have a 16 years old (the year I started thinning) on fina.

And in general, we should stop saying it's one's fault if medications don't work and one loses hair.
One should take responsibility though. I understand side effects, but look at Westonci. Lots of people jumping to conclusion that his experiment failed. But take a step back and look what he achieved in the past year. First off, he has very aggressive hair loss before starting his experiment. Second, once starting his experiment, his hair loss hasn't advanced, meaning he has maintained. Third, he has a little regrowth going on.
The most impressive thing is he is not on any sort of AA. Seti + PGE2 + Wounding + LiCl has helped him maintain.
There are plenty of options people have if they get side effects from finasteride/dutasteride.
RU, CB, Seti, PGE2, castor oil in DMSO, estriol, wounding, etc.. I understand some of these are not substitutes for an AA, but they are great additions to your hair regimen. If you're not on oral AA because of side effects, you 100% should be on topical AA. Otherwise, you have no one to blame but yourself.

We will have have to agree we disagree.
In my opinion, no one is supposed to euristically find by him/herself, online, what non-official treatment is good for them. This can lead to unexpected errors and side effects which can make your situation worse. For instance: all those who used 15% minoxidil with azelaic acid and had to stop after shedding basically 50% of their hair.
Besides, Westonci's result - with all due respect - is anything but impressive.

Your fault, should have hopped on dutasteride

just HOP on DUTASTERIDE. such a cute way of putting it. A f*****g HEAVY duty prostate medication, yeah just HOP on it. it's all good, how about I just HOP on my gun and pull the trigger, or HOP on a pile of burning coals and take a nap.

Just an update from me one month on ~ I've now been on finasteride about 6.5 months and rogaine even longer, and in that duration have gone from a NW1.5 to about a full blown Norwood 3. Life is pretty shitty at the moment, but for the most part I try my best not to dwell on it too much. I'm hanging in there and trying to trust the numbers from the studies, hoping that I'm one of those late responders (as every non-responder perhaps naively hopes for).

According to data, the chances of non-responding to minoxidil and finasteride are 70% and 10% respectively. So statistically speaking, the independent probability of not responding to either is only 7%. This makes me doubt in my mind that I am a true non-responder and for that reason I'm trying to give it a few more months before seeing my Doctor about Avodart. At this point I don't even care about lowering my hairline anymore, I just want better density.

that seems like pretty significant loss in such a short period of time, can you post some before and after pics?

I can empathize, my hair has thinned quite a bit since starting finasteride 4.5 months ago and is getting to the point where I can't possibly imagine it returning to baseline.

For what it's worth, when I started finasteride around 8 years ago I went a full Norwood below baseline my first year on the drug. I gradually recovered the following year and pretty much got back to baseline. Now, 8 years from starting the drug, I am below baseline but not as bad as I was during that initial shed.

It's very depressing to aggressively lose hair while you're taking a hair loss drug, but I do recall reading that most people need to give finasteride 2 years in order to assess its efficacy. Hope you both see some improvement soon.

Funny thing is, i actually broke my phone very recently and had all my progress photos documented on the internal memory. I'll have to see if I can recover them from the memory modules. Believe me when I say it's only been steep downhill for me, lol.

thanks man, I've read a couple of stories like yours and I'm hoping I'll see some recovery even in year 2. It's pretty much my only hope atm
