Curious if others are in the same boat as me. Losing hair on your head, but unable to grow facial hair like at all. I am not talking unable to grow a thick or patchy beard. I mean like not able to grow like any facial hair whatsoever. Feel like this isn't very common. Always seems that people balding young can grow insane beards.

Hey man, i wanted to grow a fuller beard as well as i only grew some hair on the sides.
I started minoxidil from Foligian, and after 1-2 months applying it 2x everyday, i started to see new hairs coming (very small thin hairs).
After like 4 months i had a lot of beard hair like under my chin and on the sides, but not on my cheeks. The cheeks and chin took me a like 8-9 months. (but that might be because i skipped a month because i did not had any more minoxidil).

I'm 20 and my beard is looking full. Just missing the moustache-beard connectors but I can see small velous hairs growing in those areas.
Been dying for that connection to come
Through!!! The rest of my beard is so solid but it seems like my moustache and beard will never fully connect (all the hairs are blonde where they're supposed to connect)

im 24 and yes its a little over 12 months im on finasteride 1mg/3-5x a week

I'm 23 and I can grow thick stubble but that is about it. sh*t sucks.

I've been on finasteride for more than a month and the possibility of it slowing down my facial hair growth is somewhat stressful haha. However, In the end, head hair > facial hair. I will be so happy if I can have both.
I read if you use min for about a year on your beard area it will result in permanent growth or something. I don't remember where I read it but it's probably bs.

Vellous hairs DO NOT equal Terminal hair. Sad but true. They can stay in the vellus state for
decades with treatment, and never go terminal.

Look, I'm just being honest. A lot people think Minoxidil will grow/keep terminal hair, because they have
stronger, thicker vellus hairs.
NOT TRUE.
I have terminal hair surrounded by one centimeter of pure BALDNESS. And the terminal hair remains terminal. But
the vellus hairs stay that way as well.
I haven't noticed any difficulties growing my beard, I may be able to take a day or 2 extra before I line my beard up in comparison to pre finasteride but that could just be placebo too.
If your beard genetics are decent I wouldn't worry about fins effect on it, I personally would never rub minoxidil on my face, I hate putting it on my head due to risking skin quality, but to each their own.

I don't use min at all haha. Not on my head and not on my cheeks. Min looks like a hassle to use two times a day and I'm against using medication unless there's something to fix (Like my shitty head hair lol). Oh and I actually think my beard looks darker on finasteride for some reason.
23. Been on finasteride 3 years. Think finasteride halted my body hair and facial hair growth, but it was very weak to begin with. I know many people complain of not being able to grow a beard, but my facial hair is that of like an 11 year old. Like it is super sparse. Looks horrible so have to shave it off, although only every week or so because it grows so slow. "Side burns" were always weak af too, but they're worse now since starting finasteride. Very little body hair as well. My calves have a decent amount of hair and my thighs have some too, but very little hair elsewhere. Very very little chest hair. Forearms have very little hair, upper-arm has none. No back hair. Arm pits aren't very dense at all. But tbh I like having little body hair, but not liking being unable to grow a beard.
I have a friend my age who has around the same amount of body and facial hair, but his hair looks like Justin Bieber's at 19.
