IMHO, if you don't want to shave your head the best alternative I've seen is

micro scalp pigmentation

Seriously, it makes people look younger and you don't have a 'shaved' head. Just a stubble look.

Despite the hate here, I'm actually thinking about this as my last resort now. f*** it is scary though... The idea of tattooing my head sounds odd.

The YouTube guy clearly looks like he went through a lot, in reality unless your a complete moron you do your homework on these things. He clearly made an irrational choice. Personally I think it looks sh*t and while I'm not at the shaving stage, I'd like to think when I am I'd just accept it.

I've always had a habit of getting a buzz cut once every year. It's comfortable plus I think it's kinda refreshing letting it grow out from "scratch" again. However, when I do this, oh my God I go from a 6-7 down to a 2 on the scale. Even tho I got the round skull shape I simply look awful. The beard doesn't do a lot to save that either. But with my hairstyle and beard...I think I pull off a really good looks (not sure if the females would agree or not). This makes my fear of losing my hair even greater.

Just this past weekend I was with an aquaintance (who is white) who I know had been struggling with aggressive hairloss for years. He had always been a hat prisoner but finally decided to just shave it bro. Lucky for him, he is well-built and has a nicely-shaped head, so it looks good. Anyway when I saw him (in his shaven state) I noticed that he had essentially full coverage when I thought he had none at all. Turns out he had gotten MSP and it honestly looks perfect. And I was legimately staring and examing (when he wasn't looking) to catch any blemishes, but caught none whatsoever. It looked as real as can be.
Anyway that's my long way of saying that it can definitely be done well.

He looks about 35-40 in both pictures.
If he seems younger in the right picture, it is obviously due to shaving his beard and a better lighting and exposition (skin looks brighter, you can see his eye color, etc.) the hair pigmentation makes about 2% of the difference between these pictures. don't let that fool you.

have you ever had a long beard like this and then shaved it? Everybody will tell you that you look 5 years younger

This may be so.. but its the bald shiny look gives it away and makes it look awful in proper light. Can tell its not real. Plus as ppl have pointed out.. it only takes one person to spot it and before you know it ppl taking piss that ur so insecure about your hair u have a fake tattoo on your head...

This. You think the bald guy is socially shunned or that the guy with the comb over gets laughed at? Well, all that would pale into insignificance compared to the guy with the fake tattoo hair.
